mm2ndj Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Hello, Am I missing a way to bid for a 3* DT with a lower max than the 4* UES or CPS without losing 4* bid tries? And without being required to accept the 4* DT?Thank you!

mm2ndj Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 We haven't had a stay yet. I hope for a 4* CPS but I would take a 3* DT for a lower amount.I don't want to have to take a 3* CPS and don't want the 4* DT.It seems like this cannot be done without risking getting a 3* on CPS or the undesirable 4* DT.
thereuare Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 We haven't had a stay yet.The thread linked above was for a stay for October 2008... please follow-up that thread with whatever you ended up dong for your NYC trip from October of last year... then bump this thread and we will reply to your question above. mm2ndj Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 The key is that first preference is for a 4* in CPS or UES Do not want to start bidding for 3* DTWant to see if I can get 4* CPS/UES for starting bids And want all of the bid tries I'd normally have for 4* CPS/UES.If I don't get it and used up all my bid tries for 4* in all the zones without 4*,how do I start over for a lower amount and introduce 3* DT at a lower amount than the max I was just denied in 4*?I don't think this can be done on Priceline without waiting the alloted waiting time and starting with 3* DT.I hope I'm wrong though!
mm2ndj Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 *BUMP* should i repost as this is a Q unrelated to my cancelled stay months ago? thx
mm2ndj Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 The only way I can do this is if I leave DT out of my 4* bids (don't want the 4* DT)and leave CPS/UES out of my 3* bids for DT.MODERATORS: weigh in and tell me what your expert wisdom is on this b/c maybe I haven't put in nearly as much time as you on this topic.Thanx
thereuare Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 You're not being very clear in your question so i'm not really sure how to answer it.Do you have an upcoming stay that you're trying to bid for in this thread... what are the date(s) of your stay? mm2ndj Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 I posted this question a few weeks ago but cant' find that post. We are trying to set up the trip to finally go.I can't find my notes right now where I had this mapped out on my own.If bidding for 3* only if DT and want that at a lower rate than 4* UES: can I do this in the same bid tries? Is there a way to start with 4* UES but if I can't get it for a certain $ amount, then, try to start over with 3* DT without waiting the priceline wait period?Thanx

coharahawk Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I think I understand what you are asking. I'm pretty sure you'll have to do this as 2 separate bidding sessions. If your first choice is a 4* CPS or UES, then go ahead and use the usual bidding method by adding rebid zones as described on this website. Once you reach your maximum bid for 4* and you have not won, close your browser and open up a new window. This will allow you to restart bidding on 3* hotels in DT without having to include those in CPS. Then you can start the whole process over again using your maximum price for a 3* as your new ceiling. Of course, you will likely want to lower your starting bid for the 3*, however, I'm not sure how many rebid zones you will have for the 3*.
valencia Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 And remember you MAY be upgraded in DT room 3*to 3.5* or higher, so if there really is a hotel you do nto want at a higher star level in that area.. beware that can happen.
