r263 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Hi there,I am fairly unfamiliar with the priceline name your own price concept, and my sister and I would like to stay in Vegas for 4 nights from Sept 5th. We were thinkin a 5* at the end of the strip near the fashion show mall. We are both a little apprehensive and some advice would be greatly appreciated. Do you have any ideas concerning pricing or the hotels we would be likely to be given? Ideally $100-130 per night would be our budget. I've stayed at the MGM before, so I am familiar with most strip hotels. Thanks a lot! x
thereuare Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't seen it yet, this is a good place to start: I've Never Used Priceline or HotwireIf you decide to use PRICELINE you can only choose the area based upon their pre-defined boundaries, of which the area you describe would be the North Strip zone. If you go to PRICELINE and see the boundaries of the North Strip zone, would you be willing to accept a 5* hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of that zone? Do note, that currently the Trump International (a new hotel) is within this North Strip zone, but it is located slightyl off the strip and also does not have a casino... would this be an acceptable outcome? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. r263 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 Hi there! Thanks for your help. I've had a read of the never used PRICELINE link, and that was a great help. Yes, Trump Tower would be perfectly acceptable for me, I'm not a big gambler and it's in a good position for the Fashion Show Mall, so I would be really happy with that. Do you have any idea if $100-130 per night would be accepted for a 5* in that area? Are there any other 5* hotels that Priceline use that are located off the strip? Thanks again, sorry if I'm capitalising on your knowledge!! x
thereuare Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 The Trump is the only 'known' 5* hotel in the North Strip zone that is located slightly off the strip... i can't think of any others which would be rated 5 stars, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any. It's possible that $130 would be enough right now for a 5*, although i'm doubtful that it will be... it may be a little early for a September stay to see the hotels discounting that much from their current pricing.Do you want to try for a 5* in the North strip zone up to $130?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
