I placed a bid last night and won at The Palms hotel.

I checked the hotel web site and discovered that it is called The Palms SOUTH BEACH!! :) It's located at 30th and collins which is already the south beach zone!

I specifically wanted miami beach NOT south beach.

Do you think there is any way I can get PL to cancel my reservation on these grounds? I took out the insurance, can that help?

Welcome to the site.

The insurance isn't going to help. I'm not familiar with Miami; is the hotel within the zone/map of the area you were bidding on? If it falls within the map of the zone you were bidding on, there's nothing you can do, as you got a hotel in the zone you bid on.

If this hotel is NOT within the boundary of the zone you were bidding on, then I would strongly suggest contacting PRICELINE ASAP.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Does the address of your winning bid confirmation screen show the address as 3025 Collins Ave? If so, this is indeed in the Miami Beach zone (not the South Beach zone) and PRICELINE should have no problem refunding the reservation as the property is clearly not in the zone. My guess is that at one point the boundary South Beach / Miami Beach zone changed slightly and this hotel was therefore misclassified.

However, i will note that this is very close to the border of the two zones, so if PRICELINE offers you some form of compensation to keep this reservation then you may want to consider it since the difference between this property and the start of the Miami Beach zone is only a block or two.

Let us know how you make out.

:) I've stayed at The Palms South Beach and it's really not south beach. It's a really nice quiet area very unlike south beach. However, you're close enough to the bus stop that will take you to lincoln road in about 5 minutes and south beach in about 10. You have nothing to worry about. The hotel staff is very friendly. They charge you a $12 resort fee that includes towels, umbrella and chair nicely placed wherever you want by the staff-a big plus to not have to deal with in the heat. Also, they have the beach secluded to some point from the crowds. see the pics in the hotel's website. we're from miami and we've stayed here twice. i really recommend it. a bit of advice, if you need to use the parking, don't, it's $25 per day! you could just park in the meters nearby.
