Dutchtraveller Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 I am travelling to San Francisco from 4 September 2004 - 7 September 2004, am looking for a 3* or 4* at Fishermans wharf or Embarcadero. Any suggestions on what to bid?
thereuare Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! We'll be happy to provide a suggested strategy.... do you have a maximum bid amount at each star level? So that we provide the most appropriate strategy, please rank in preference order the following three:4* Embarcadero3* Embarcadero3* Fisherman's Wharf(Fisherman's Wharf has no 4* hotels so that's not an option)Also, are you familiar with RE-BIDDING? You'll have 4 re-bids at the 4* level and 1 re-bid at the 3* level... if you're not sure which zones qualify as re-bid zones or dont' come up with the same number or re-bid zones as mentioned here please ask questions and we'll explain it further.Let us know the answer to the above questions regarding zone preferences and maximum bid amounts and we'll take it from there. thereuare Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Thanks for the updated info, this is how i would bid this based upon your preferences:Select 4* USEBid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $80.If rejected close that browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* FW(i'm doubtful you'll be successful below $60, so i'd sooner bid $60 and $65, but since you have some time you can start with the following):Bid $56, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $60If rejected close that browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* USEBid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $55, if rejected add FW (essentially a re-bid zone since you know from rejection above nothing available below $60) and...Bid $60Feel free to ask any questions that you may have regarding the above.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Dutchtraveller Posted August 7, 2004 Author Report Posted August 7, 2004 First bid: 4* Embarcadero, $ 60, deniedSecond bid: 4* added Fishermans Wharf, $65, deniedThird bid: 4* added Union Square West, $ 70, accepted!Hotel: Renaissance Stanford CourtDates: 4 September 2004 (saturday arrival) - 7 September 2004 (three nights)Thanks for the advice ! This will be my first trip to San Francisco (and California for that matter). I'm looking forward to it.
thereuare Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Congratulations on your win!Not sure if you were confused about re-bids or decided that the USW zone was also acceptable, but USW wasn't a re-bid zone. Looks like it worked out well in this event since the zones are so close together, but just want to make sure that you understand re-bidding for any future bids. Thanks for posting and enjoy your trip to California.
