Hotwire Hotel: Waikiki Resorts Sept

I am also new to this forum and would like help on securing a resort for sept 2009. Is it too far in advanve to try for one now? I need the reservation for sept 11th thru 14th. I have stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village before but when you look at the marina area it doesn,t seem to include where the Hilton is. Is the Hilton included in that area and are there any other resorts in that area that I could get if I put in a resort bid for the marina area?

My other plans on this trip are to go to Kauai from sept 6 to the 11th. I have been looking at booking a package thru Hawaiian air. Is that the best way to go or would it be better to bid on resorts there also.
