Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Embarcadero-Financial) Hilton Finacial

I bid $88.00 per night and received the Hilton Financial. I had just stayed there last weekend. When I checked in they said "Oh Priceline" and put me in a closet next to the elevator shaft. Later that night I found an understanding desk agent who put me in a "real" room.

So when I received this bid for $88.00 ($105.00 total per night) I thought, OK!!! Then I went on the Hilton website and could have gotten the room for a total of $102.00 per night, received Hilton Points and would probably get a "real" room without going through different desk agents.

I can live with it. I have used Priceline and Hotwire for years and have always been satisfied with the result. However, with the economy as it is, hotels websites should also be checked.

We always recommend checking prices, regardless of the economy, as there could always be other factors (seasonal pricing as well as conventions) which effect pricing, both 'opaque' and 'retail'. Hopefully the room assignment last time was just 'bad luck' and you'll receive better treatment this time around. At check-in you can even say, with a smile on and your friendliest voice possible: "I've stayed here a few times before and really like the rooms that end in '18' (or whatever the 'good' room was last time) so if you have anything with that configuration that would be great... i once got a room that ended in '12' (or whatever the 'bad' room was) and as that room was next to the elevator shaft i couldn't get any sleep and management had to get involved to move me the next day, so i'd prefer to stay away from that line of rooms if possible, but i'll leave it in your hands to for something nice as i'm sure you know the property better than i do.
