I am new to this site but really like it and plan on using to book through hotwire. My trip is planned from 4/29 to either 5/3 or 5/4 depending on rates as i am leaving on a redeye sunday night. (may just keep luggage in car and travel around last day). My question is it seems there are obviously different rated hotels at different times on hotwire but so far reading through all the posts i havent seen too much at all off other hotels such as bellagio, mirage, ny ny, or mgm. is there a reason we dont see any hotwire wins for these hotels such as they dont use hotwire at all to fill rooms or is it all just timing and maybe their descriptions will pop up on hotwire? i realize they dont list the hotel name but seems like it has been narrowed down to wynn or venetian for 5* center strip, but havent seen any mention of encore or bellagio. same with 4*. no postings for mirage or ny ny which i really love. i would take any of these five but seems though on hotwire i can narrow it down to wynn or venetian and various other 4* hotels...any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Few comments...

Some (most?) of the hotels you mention above are 4* rated by both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, not 5 stars.

Also, HOTWIRE will only show one hotel (the lowest priced) at each star level in each zone... the hotels won the most frequently are those who have the most competitive pricing, the other hotels may not be willing to discount to a similar degree.

Is there a link to an updated star ratings list for hotwire vegas hotels? which ones are rated 4* that I have called 5*? I looked at the hotel list on this site but doesnt include hotels such as mgm, ny ny, mirage, etc. thanks again.

thanks again for your help. My last question would be do you suggest it is a good strategy to wait longer and longer for prices to drop on hotwire or do you think they will only go up. again my trip is planned for 4/29 to 5/3 or 5/4. my wife is worried that the prices arent going to come down and we will be getting a worse deal the longer i wait. i have also checks other sites for deals since we were originally going to stay at flamingo or harrahs but since i've noticed 5* hotels going for just about $100 or so more it would be worth it to me to wait until i see that type of deal again on hotwire. i was referring the prevoius wins listed on here for wynn etc that were very close to our travel dates as the ones i was considering being that they were worth paying the difference for a 5* stay vs. 3 or 3 1/2*...any advice or strategy based on our travel dates whether it would be worth booking now or waiting to see if they drop, if at all? thanks.

The best rate for 5* is still on HOTWIRE, around $134 a night or so. for harrahs i found on i4vegas around $72 but total price would be a little over $300 but earlier posts on here have wynn at a little over $500 which may be more worth it to stay there for that price. im just hoping they will have those same prices for my dates that other people have won on HOTWIRE for a little over $100 a night...not sure if prices should come down between now and last week of april or if they usually hold steady. any advice?

What is the best rate you're currently able to find at a 5* hotel thru conventional booking channels?
The best rate for 5* is still on HOTWIRE, around $134 a night

HOTWIRE isn't a 'conventional' booking channel (it's considered "opaque") since the it's a deeply discount service which doesn't show the name of the hotel until after the purchase.

Rates are a function of supply vs. demand... all the currently known information (current booking plus expected bookings) are taken into consideration to determine the current price. If more bookings come in then expected, or fewer people cancel their current reservations, then prices will rise... if fewer people than expected book reservation or cancellations come in more than expected, then rates will decrease. Vegas, more so than perhaps any others market, uses sophisticated pricing programs and rates can change sharply and quickly (in both directions)

Have you tried bidding on PRICELINE for a 5* yet?

Also, Harrahs is priced lower than the others due to an i4vegas sale of "4th nite free"... the details read that Fri/Sat nites are not eligible for the 4th nite free, but it does appear to be taking the Saturday nite (the most expensive nite) off of the total bill. This comes with a $25 cancellation fee, so if this is your best deal you may want to book it to lock in the free nite while it's available, as it only comes to about $5/nite if you decide to cancel and find a better deal.

I would probably try bidding on PRICELINE for a 5* first, up to your maximum bid, then take the Harrahs deal thru i4vegas as a back-up (assuming you're happy with this deal and hotel)

Thanks for your advice. I didnt realize it was only $25 to cancel so I will go ahead and book this through your link and keep an eye out for a better HOTWIRE deal. I looked at PRICELINE but my wife and I arent real excited about how they zone their hotels compared to hotwire. being on the strip is important to us, even though this is our 4th or 5th time out. still love staying on the strip and we would be very disappointed if we got stuck off the strip or even worse at trump. thanks again for pointing out that low cancel fee as i was debating which way to go. i will book through HOTWIRE via this site if i do see a more attractive deal down the road. thanks again.

I didnt realize it was only $25 to cancel...

Should always confirm yourself but that's what it showed on the bottom of my i4vegas search after i clicked the BOOK IT button.

Keep us updated as to any changes or if anything else comes along via HOTWIRE which we can assist with.

Thanks for using our i4vegas link for your booking.

As we have taken your advice and are keeping an eye out on other deals on hotwire and may end up canceling our harrahs reservation for $25, can you help identify which 3* hotel central strip this may be on hotwire?

amenities:

casino

fitness center

pool

restaurant

business center

high speed internet

spa

based on your list it is either bill's or imperial palace. any notable differences between the two as far as identifying one vs. the other? i've stayed at imperial and prefer to stay somewhere else, but bill's is a possiblility. thanks again.

Actually based on your list I believe it is imperial palace from the spa icon. i just had to look a little closer at your list...thanks anyways...if i am wrong though please let me know. will still keep eyes out for better deal then what we currently have booked just in case. thanks.
