dyl281 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Hi,I have been trying to bid on a 4* for the period 30 Apr - 4 May for some time without sucess. I have only recently discovered this forum (which has been a great help by the way) and still no luck.I'm was originally looking at TS and MTW regions. After reading this forum I added MTE as the Benjamin looked a good deal.People seem to be winning this for $110 - $136 at the moment so I don't really want to go much more than this. I know I have plenty of time but it's frustrating to see that people are winning this with lower prices and star-rating that I am bidding for.I guess it's just the luck of the draw. Any advice would be greatly received...
AaronJB Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Welcome to the site.Unfortunately, it's not the luck of the draw as much as it is dates. You are bidding for further out than other people are, and these dates get more into the busier/generally more costly May/Spring season.
dyl281 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Ok thanks. I'm not panicing yet, I'll just keep on trying.
thereuare Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Additionally, the current "low" rates are for the winter months (low season) while your dates (springtime = high season) so that has something to do with it as well. Given the current economic conditions i would remain patient and not chase anything this far ahead of your stay, but since your stay in in the Spring, i would at least be prepared to pay more than the current ~$120 area we're seeing for 4 star properties. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated and let us know if we can be of further help along the way.
