jwee Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 There are several very large conventions in Chicago the weekend of Sept. 10-12 with quite a few of the hotels/motels full. When will hotels reduce prices for that weekend? The week before or the day before? I've used hotwire often but never seen Chicago so full. I do have a cancellable room--our son's apt. so I can wait until the last minute but don't know if hotwire rates will drop. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, jwee
thereuare Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 No one knows when, or if, rates will drop... if the hotels sell enough rooms to convention attendees they will have no need to provide discounted inventory to Priceline or Hotwire.Best suggestion is if you can't find out the conventions that will be in town during your stay and find out when they deadline is for booking a room at the convention rate. Most large conventions these days have websites set-up and this information should be listed there (or at the very least, the recommended hotels would be listed there and you can call them to find out the booking deadline). I would start searching again once the deadline date approaches as this is usually when hotels will release any rooms they had blocked for the convention. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
