Koz Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 I have been trying to win a San Juan resort for 2/7/09. I started this process in December, and sort of lost interest during the holidays. I reviewed some of the December resort "wins" and saw they ranged from $90-120. More recent reviews indicate the market price is somewhere between $150-200 for resorts.I only need one night, post cruise and don't want to burn cash for no good reason. We've sayed at the Hilton Caribe and the property is very nice. Good beach, very nice pool, good rooms, etc. Their website price is $270-395. There is no way I would pay this rate.Started at: $80, stopped at $120. No wins. Any suggestions?I was thinking of stepping down to a 4*; but really desire a decent pool and/or beach that we can enjoy on 2/7. I see the 3* price point is down around $45/night. Any idea where the 4* price point (bottom) is?
thereuare Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I see the 3* price point is down around $45/night.Is this relative to your dates OR are you just quoting a price of a previous win on the board (for dates other than your own??)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Koz Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Let's simplify the question. What should be my starting bid for a 3* San Juan hotel be? Yesterday I bid, via your PRICELINE link:San Juan 3.5* 2/7/09: $45, 50, 55, 58, 61, 63, 65, 68, 71, 74 all bids were rejectedAdditionally, I tried a 3* at: 40, 45, 48, 51, 55 all these were rejected. From your Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, I see some people have had sucess with a 3* at $60 & $61. I thought I read a post which advised to start lower than this.Am I doing something wrong? After the 24 hr wait period, should I resume where I left off bidding or start low and run the spectrum again? Please advise
