Saw another poster that got around the same dates for $155/night at the Shelbourne, which is what I'm shooting for.

I tried:

City Centre South @ $120

City Centre South + City Center North @ $130

City Centre South + Dublin Airport @ $135

City Centre South + City Center North + Dublin Airport @ $145

Each time PL countered with $206/night.

I'll try again this weekend or Monday and report back.

I got the Shelbourne for $155. Maybe you noticed that they did not accept my bids of $145 and $150. I had to go up to $155. My experience with Dublin is prices remain high, even if occupancy is low. May change with the current travel situation? Be sure to post your ultimate price. I noticed the Westin has lower than previous rates for the time you will be there, so it doesn't appear 5* hotels are full then.

Sorry, to clarify, started my bidding both last time, and today, with the PRICELINE link from this site.

Today I tried 4 bids, starting with City Centre South, and using 3 free rebids after at: $140, $145, $150 and $155 (which a previous bidder here was successful with). Each time I was counter offered with the same $206 offer I got the other day.

Will try again tomorrow and report back.

Tried again today with no luck.

Started with the PRICELINE link from this site, and then tried $150, $155, $160 and $165, starting with City Centre South, and the adding three rebid zones. Each time I got the same $206 counter-offer as the other day.

I know you know that you cannot be sure you'll get the Shelbourne. The last time I got a counter offer and accepted it in Dublin, it was the Westin. (We really loved it there.) But I hope you are aware you might be bidding on another hotel. Did you check the Renaissance Shelbourne site to see what prices are? That could be an indicator of how booked they are, thus how willing they are to accept your bid. Good luck.

Yes, thank you, I know that the Shelbourne isn't a sure bet. I was just guessing that's what might turn up based on others' past postings.

Tried again today, starting with the PRICELINE link from this site, and then trying:

City Centre South @ US$150

City Centre South + City Centre North @ US$155

Both times Priceline countered with an offer of US$205/night, which is US$1 less than it has been counteroffering me.

Still, it's not much of a deal. If I were to bid US$160/night, with the taxes and Priceline fees it would come to a total of US$765, or roughly 581 euros.

There is a promotion on the Westin website right now that offers a fourth night free when booking three nights, and would get me a classic queen room at the Westin for a total of 585 euros for the entire stay. I'll likely just take that offer.

Thanks for trying your bids thru our links.

While PRICELINE is counter-offering $205, they will almost always take less, if you try bidding using a re-bid zone. Not sure how much savings you need to make an opaque purchase worthwhile, for $20/nite you may just choose to book direct and know what you will receive, or if $20/nite is enough of a savings for this stay, you may want t considering continuing to slowly increase your bids.
