thereuare Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Kaanapali Beach Club so that would be our best guess, although i'm not curently seeing this property when searching HOTWIRE for your dates)... are you still seeing this property on your own HOTWIRE search? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. sfcafox Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 No...I am not seeing this hotel any longer. I have decided to use PRICELINE instead now that I've become accustomed to the site, I feel the risk of getting the wrong hotel through PRICELINE is greatly reduced by using this site for reseach and doing the bid at the right time. Should I continue to use this thread or open a new one under Priceline instead?Thank you for identifying the hotel which is no longer advertising itself. Must have been a one day thing only.
thereuare Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Please continue this thread for all posts related to this stay. If you ultimatley use PRICELINE we'll then move the entire thread to that section of the board. However, i'll add that you really can't target a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you really are subject to any hotel in the shaded boundaries of the zone at the minimum star level (or higher) thatn you bid... there really isn't a way to determine a 'right time' to bid to receive, or avoid, any pariticular property. The hotel lists can show you what has been won historically, so at least you can avoid a zone with a 'known' hotel that you're trying to avoid and/or make sure that you're comfortable with all the hotels that have been reported there, but keep in mind you could be the first to report a new hotel in the zone or a hotel already reported but at a new star level. I'm not trying to encourage/discourage you from either service, but just want to make sure you're not assuming too much in that you'll be able to get a specific hotel thru PRICELINE.If you'd like help with a bidding strategy let us know which zone(s) you're interested in bidding, the minimum star level you're willing to accept, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
sfcafox Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 Thanks for the great advice, we'll use this thread to report our results and will use the PRICELINE (or HOTWIRE) links above.
sfcafox Posted January 12, 2009 Author Report Posted January 12, 2009 We've switched gears a bit and will now be traveling to Kauai instead of Maui. Can anyone help identify this hotel from Hotwire?Dates are January 30 through February 4th, 4*, $123.00 per night.Resort Beachfront Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Children's Activity Program
sfcafox Posted January 12, 2009 Author Report Posted January 12, 2009 I think I found the hotel that is 4*...Hilton Kauai Beach....we're not interested if so. We're thinking of Priceline as the history of resort hotels is more in line with what we're searching for. We'd like to use Priceline for a resort property, January 30 - February 4, any good advice on how to get the best rate and has the Grand Hyatt Poipu been offering up anything lately on Priceline? Thanks
sfcafox Posted January 12, 2009 Author Report Posted January 12, 2009 Found Marriott Kauai Friends and Family Rate online for $148.00 per night, so going with that for now. Will watch for a better HOTWIRE rate should one come along as I have until January 20 to cancel the Marriott rate. If I find a better HOTWIRE rate, I'll consider booking that instead.Marriott Vacation Club, Marriott Kauai, Lihue, HIJanuary 30 - February 4, 2009$148.00 per nightGarden View Room, Kahili TowerThanks for everyone's help.
