crwest Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Used PRICELINE link make reservation. Maintained a steady $45 bid through Austin zones in the following sequence: Northwest, Round Rock, Airport South, North.Offer price $45.00Taxes & fees 14.18Total 59.18Best online rate $152.10 plus $22.81 taxes = $174.92. Savings of 66%.I still have to book a weeks car in Austin and 3 nights in San Antonio (4/26-4/29). In light of the economy and the reduction in discretionary spending, do you think that the suppliers - rental agencies and hoteliers - will lower their threshold acceptance prices or offer more units at existing prices, or a combination of the two?Cheers!
thereuare Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Congratulations on your win!Hope you're happy with the results and that this works well for your plans.Regarding the economy, we have already seen a drop in prices across the board (some markets more so than others) and the current economic situation is already factored into prices. Of course nobody can say if things will get better or worse over the next 3 months between now and your trip, so if you do choose to wait, i would make sure you book a cancellable back-up to protect yourself from prices rising. If you need help bidding for your car rental please start a NEW TOPIC.Thanks for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
