lilly Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Hi - I'm new to the board and am looking for a room in the WDW area for 8/13-8/15 at a 4 star hotel or resort. I've never tried Priceline before but have heard great things about it and how everyone gets great deals. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! We'll be happy to supply a strategy for you to follow. Before we do, since you're new to Priceline, have you read and understand the concept of RE-BIDDING? (to give you a 'hint', you have 7 re-bid zones available when bidding at the Resort level, and 6 re-bid zones available when bidding 4*)Please ask any questions that you have about re-bidding and/or confirm which zones qualify as your re-bid zones. Once you understand the re-bid concept we'll add a strategy for you to follow. Did you have a maximum bid amount in mind? lilly Posted July 16, 2004 Author Report Posted July 16, 2004 Hi - I think I understand the whole re-bidding concept, but I'm not sure which zones don't include resorts, which I could re-bid on. I think the maximum price I'd like would be $100. What amount should I start at? $60? I've never used Priceline before and I'm a little scared as to whether or not I should try it. My husband keeps telling me that people get great deals on Priceline, but I don't want to be trapped with a bad hotel or something like that. Any suggestions? And is there any way to know which resorts would be available if I did bid on Priceline? I'm not sure how I should go about this! Thank you, lilly
thereuare Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 From the link above, this is the proper way to determine which zones qualify as your re-bid zones:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. You have 8 re-bid zones when bidding Resort in this area. Please feel free to confirm you're re-bid zones with the board, or ask additional questions, if you are still unsure of your re-bid zones. This is how i would proceed:Select Resort in the WDW area:Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $95.Good Luck! lilly Posted August 4, 2004 Author Report Posted August 4, 2004 Hi - I placed a bid with Priceline for a RESORT in the Disney Area - my first bid of $61 was rejected, but when offered a chance to up the bid by $17, I chose to add a zone and up the bid to $65. My bid was accepted for the Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa - $65 - total for two nights is $153.56 (with taxes and fees!) Yay!
