foxestacado Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I need to stay as close as possible to the Parc55 (located at 55 Cyril Magnin) for five nights, two adults, for less than $165 per night. Any amenities, although internet access would be nice. Asking for Hotel Reverse-IDs for closest possible hotel to 55 Cyril Magnin or the Parc55. Nearby hotels (according to Google Maps) include Hotel Nikko, Hotel Bijou, and Hotel Powell. This area is blocked off on Hotwire as lying within Union Square West (in the corner, on Ellis & Mason, right at the edge), but it may also be fairly close in the Union Square East area, as well. Thanks in advance!Edit: I see now that your list of hotels for San Francisco Union Square West includes Parc55 here:4* Parc 55 Renaissance Parc 55Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business(at one time didn't show Fitness making it the same as The Clift)At HOTWIRE, for 7/16/2009 to 7/21/2009, I see a listing for a 4* Hotel (USW) with fitness, restaurant, internet, and business for $104 per night. What do you guys think? Is this the Parc55? Or is this CLIFT?
foxestacado Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Also, a convention will be held there during the time of the stay. Does this impact the likelihood of Parc55 being listed as a hotel option on Hotwire? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't currently see any 4* hotel offered in the USW zone when searching HOTWIRE for your dates above... are you still seeing this property for your own HOTWIRE search? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. foxestacado Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Yeah, I no longer see the 4* hotel offered either. I wonder if I made a mistake...
foxestacado Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 Yeah, I no longer see the 4* hotel offered either. I wonder if I made a mistake...I read somewhere that I should not start a new topic for the same stay, but since it looks like Parc55 is not offered through Hotwire for my dates of stay, my alternative is staying at Hotel Nikko. Hotel Nikko is only offered through Priceline, yes? What price should I bid to get Hotel Nikko? $100? I am willing to pay anything less than $165 per night for five nights. Should this query go to the Priceline section? Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Hotel Nikko is only offered through Priceline, yes?If you look at the 2nd post of the Hotwire Hotel List you will see the amenities that HOTWIRE (at least at one point in time) associated with the Hotel Nikko... nobody has ever confirmed this with a purchase thru the 'opaque' prodcut (to save time at the above link, press CTRL+F on your keyboard and search for "nikko" (without the quotes))What price should I bid to get Hotel Nikko? You can't bid for a specific property on PRICELINE. If you look at the Priceline Hotel List you'll see that there are many other 4* properties reported in the USW-Nob Hill zone... are you willing to accept any 4* hotel in this zone??Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us konw how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. foxestacado Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 Ahhh, I see. I need to be able to get Hotel Nikko or Parc55 for sure (or as close to sure as possible), otherwise I don't think I'm willing to bid.
thereuare Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 If you need a specific property you should probably book direct or thru an "non-opaque" source... of course the trade-off is that doing so will likely cost you much more. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
foxestacado Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 What is a non-opaque source? Sadly, I had been willing to bid to try for Parc55 through Hotwire, but the hotel either disappeared from my search options or I had inputted the wrong dates. I suppose they would not put it onto Hotwire during a convention time, or should I try back a little closer to the convention? I need it for July 16th to July 21st. I had tried all sorts of combination of dates, ranging from one more day to less days. None of them show the 4* hotel with amenities that look like either Parc55 or Clift.
thereuare Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 OPAQUE = PRICELINE and HOTWIRE where you don't know the name of the hotel until after you bookNon-Opaque = traditional booking services where you know the hotel you're purchasingSome hotels do offer rooms to the opaque suppliers during conventions... it all depends upon the size of the convention and how other bookings are coming in for those particular dates.I'm not sure of the price of the two hotels you're considering, but if you could save $100/nite but have to take a $10 cab ride (or a short trip via mass transit) would the savings be worth not staying at the conference hotel? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
