tkduke77 Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 I've used Priceline for hotels before thanks to this site, but I've never tried to bid on airfare. My question is if I plan to start my bidding at 40% off the listed price, should I bid 40% off the price that includes taxes and fees or 40% off the price BEFORE taxes and fees? For example, the flight I am looking to bid on is from Memphis-Vancouver and is $360 before taxes and fees and $450 when they are added in. Thanks! :)
thereuare Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 You virtually have an unlimited number of re-bids when bididng for airfare, as per the second post in this Priceline Airfare Bidding thread.I'd probably start my bidding at ~40% of the base fare (~$145 in your example) which would bring your total cost on the first bid up to ~$235 'all-in' if you were accepted at that level. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated as to your progress and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.Good luck. tkduke77 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 Thank you for the tips. I am going to bid using the PRICELINE link in the next few days and I will post the results.
tkduke77 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Report Posted January 11, 2009 Thank you for the tips. I am going to bid using the PRICELINE link in the next few days and I will post the results.I tried unsuccessfully bidding from $210 to $250. With taxes and fees, the bids were $300-340. Since regular tickets have dropped to $400, I will probably just book directly with the airline. Thanks for your help.
