lexie3795 Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Thought I would get the Hyatt. Got this instead. I went back through the posts and haven't seen very many Hilton wins at all. What's your opinion about this...the minimum I've seen lately for Resort in this area is around $81-$85. My first bid was $75. f I had bid higher, do you think I would have decreased my odds of getting the Hilton and increased my odds of getting the Hyatt. I had a similar bidding experience recently...I'm just wondering if going TOO low on a bid rules out some of the "nicer" (higher priced) resorts. Thanks!! (I used your PRICELINE link!!) I love this forum and use it frequently...truly appreciate your work.
thereuare Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Congratulations on your win! Can't say if bidding higher would have increased yoru chances for the Hyatt, but doing so is generally not recommended, as you could end up just overpaying for the same hotel, as explained in this Don't Bid Higher For a Specific Hotel thread. If you're trying to target, or avoid, a specific property HOTWIRE can often be a better option than PRICELINE since you're able to take an educated guess as to the property you're likely to receive. Thanks for sharing your results wtih the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. 123slb Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 :) I've walked a mile in your shoes! Bottom line: you'll never know if Priceline had other resorts with inventory that would have "hit" at a higher figure. Best option is to continue to lobby Priceline to change the resort rating for this Hilton, which I certainly did through survey and email. Still, it's a nice enough property at a savings, and you should have a comfortable stay, especially if you're enjoying the Disney World experience.
