Claudia Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Marco Island for February 7th and 8th. Checked the prices online which are sky high between 350 and 550 $ per night. I guess the chances are low to get a room there for a reasonable rate?
thereuare Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 It depends upon what you consider reasonable :)There is a correlation between hotel direct rates and the amount needed for a winning bid, but sometimes you can get lucky and pick up a good deal even during an otherwise expensive time... which is why it's usually recommended to find your best deal, then try to beat it by setting your maximum bid accordingly.I know from your other thread that this is part of a multi-stay trip... are you committed to staying in this area or is there another area nearby you'll look towards if rates are too high? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Claudia Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 We have 8 nights in total and are only travelling from Tampa down the coast and staying wherever we want. It is my birthday in between and I thought I should go for somethign really nice for that day and the day before, that why I thought of the resort on Marco Island. I would also look into Bonita Springs resort or a 4* in Naples. All the other days it doesn't really matter what we get, a 2* or 3* will do and I will post the results.
thereuare Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 How high are you willing to bid for yoru "birthday nites"?You may also want to try Quickbook which sometimes has decent deals in this general area. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Are you willing to bid all three zones at this point in time? (Marco Island, Naples, and Bonita Springs)If so, note that Naples' highest star rating available would be 4* while there are no 4 star properties avaialble in Marco Island or Bonita Springs, where you would be bidding for a Resort class property)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Claudia Posted January 11, 2009 Author Report Posted January 11, 2009 I tried again today and went up to $180 but still no luck. I gave up the resorts and tried for 4* Naples with $160 and was accepted for the Naples Bay Resort.
