IDICarol Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 So happy to have the Wynn. Interestingly, I had been to Hotwire first before finding this site... and when I clicked on the link from this site to get to Hotwire the price was FAR lower. I paid $119 by clicking through, yet directly on hotwire it was $238. Comment though.... by booking direct on hotwire, I could say that I needed a room for 4 (2A, 2C) but by clicking on the link in this forum it defaulted to 2 and I couldn't change it. The difference in rate is because I couldn't specify 4 people... and now I'm unsure what to do... I will need to call the hotel and I may need to book a 2nd room, which will realy be annoying (and expensive since we're staying 4 nights) because we chose this property because of the fabulous rate!
AaronJB Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Strange that you were not able to change it from 2 adults; I have never seen an instance of that in the past. I would call the Wynn to inform them, and if they are not of help, I would call HOTWIRE and explain the situation.$238 vs $119 is a little unusual in terms of the difference between the cost of 2 and cost of 4 - are you sure it was the same hotel listed? In many instances, a hotel may show up when you search for 2 and a different hotel shows up when searching for 4.Thank you for posting your win and using the site's HOTWIRE link. Let us know how it goes in terms of calling the Wynn. I would not book another room and instead try to work things out with the Hotel and/or HOTWIRE.
IDICarol Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 Hi Aaron... I'm really kicking myself because I've been researching/comparing for hours (and I do know the industry). I just went back to look at both options again and I see my error. The room for $119 (for 2 people which is the result from the affiliate link) has 8 ammenities but has spa instead of the computer/internet icon... The one for $239 (for 4 people which is the result from hotwire directly) does not show a spa icon but has a computer. This is going to be an expensive error as we booked for 4 nights. I've reached out to a contact at the LVCVA to see if she can help. I'll wait to see if something can be done (other than adding a 2nd room). In the meantime I'll contact Hotwire to let them know that the affiliate link needs to permit # of guests so that this doesn't happen again.Update: phoned Wynn and they told me to call HotwirePhoned Hotwire: Lena called the hotel and they said that it would be $50/pp per night additional and that at check in I should talk to reservations to see what could be donw. She also told me that if there were >2 people, I shouldn't be using your link. I suggested that the affiliate link be changed rather than having this issue.Next stop... to see what can be done through my contacts at the LVCVA
AaronJB Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Odd, I just used the link and was able to select more than two adults. Hopefully board moderator thereuare will see this and provide his thoughts on why that could have happened with the two option "locked".In the meantime, I hope your contacts can be of assistance; let us know how it goes and if we can be of any further help.
IDICarol Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 unforunatetly the LVCVA is unable to help... and Aaron, I still do not get a choice to change the # of guests when I click on the link... are we clicking on two different links? So bottom line is that I have to decide what to do... see if I can cancel with HOTWIRE, book a 2nd room for $119 OR take my chances and see what happens on check in... So, word of warning to all... 1. Wynn charges $50 PP > 2 people and 2. if you have more than 2 people ensure that you have changed the specs. Many times the room rate does not change (it doesn't for this property if you get a quote from Hotels.com... same price for 2 as 4, mind you it's a LOT more than the $119 rate BUT if you have more than 2 people don't chance it). I"m beginning to wish I'd booked something else
thereuare Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 The search box on the top left corner of the page defaults to 2adults (as well as one room)... if you click the logo in that search box, the HOTWIRE link in any post, or in the support page, you're taken directly to HOTWIRE where you can edit of the parameters (city, rooms, adults, children, etc) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
IDICarol Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks... prior to seeing your post I decided to try the link in the admin posts and sure enough the actual link is different. May I suggest that there be a "tip" just below that box to say how to book >2 people (i.e. don't enter dates and click GO)...
IDICarol Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 An Update... after persisting with Hotwire, they offered me a courtesy rebook. Now at Treasure Island 4- star central strip 3/14 - 3/18 for $144/nt (4 people). Casino, Gym, Pool, Rest, Bus center, golf, spa... Not much of a discount compared to the TI website where it is quoting $159/nt but at least it's cheaper than adding $100/nt for 2 kids and I know we won't have an issue at check-in
thereuare Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Glad to hear you were able to work it out and are now happy with the outcome. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
