PapaCat Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 New Years Eve night. Ugly time to be last-minute pricelining a room in New York... I tried about 30 different bids doing all kinds of gyrations in Manhattan (including Brooklyn) and in Jersey City and could get nothing for under $200 including taxes and fees, even going down to 2*. soo... I resorted to trying LGA. We have a few events/parties planned across the NYC area for the night and the very last in the wee hours of the morning is in Brooklyn, so a short cab ride to the LGA hotel will be easy. Plus, we are old hands at public transport in the NYC area.Tried 3.5* up to $135 = rejected.Started over and dropped to 3* Was rejected at 115. Accepted at 125.This is about a mile or a hair more from a metro stop, which is a doable walk for us in the morning. Alternatively it is 30 minutes to get to manhattan proper on bus + subway for a couple bucks or $25-30 for a cab.Given that a dumphole in Elmhurst was going for $200 a night on Kayak / Mobissimo for New Years Eve, I consider this one hell of a steal. We all rely on each other for information. Please do your part to keep BetterBidding the best place to research Priceline bids: 1. Remember to start your bidding with the BB PRICELINE link. 2. When you win, post your results here so others can learn from your experience. 3. If you had to do rebids or have bidding tips, pass them along when you can. THANKS!
