I am looking for a hotel in the Waikiki beach area from Jan 2-10/09. I have been bidding through the PRICELINE link on this site. It's actually for my brother and he is on a real budget. So far I have bid Resort for $85, 4 star for $70, $3.5 for $62 and 3 star for $51. I will also be there staying at the Sheraton Waikiki with my husband and daughter. Worse case scenario my brother can crash at our place for a couple of the nights. Are we better off waiting-do the deals get better at the last second? I am certain that none of the hotels are sold out at this time so we are hoping to get a good deal at the nicest place possible.

Thanks!

I'm admittedly not super familiar with Hawaii in terms of hotels, but in terms of traffic, while none of the hotels may be full, there are a lot of people on this site who have been searching for vacations in that area in January (and given the kind of weather the Northern US is having, I don't blame anyone who's headed to warmer climates), so I think if there is something that appeals to you, I'd take it.

I do see what appears to be a match for the Doubletree Alana Waikiki on HOTWIRE (a 3* in Waikiki North for $74 w/Near Beach, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business as amenities). Expedia has The Equus for $89 (but use coupon code STAY10 for $10 off each night) and that offers free breakfast.

In terms of your bidding, I think you're just coming up a little short. Next time you are able to bid, I would bid $5 more at each star level (for example - $56 for a 3* instead of $51)

Please use the site's PRICELINE, HOTWIRE or Expedia.com links to start your purchase. Let us know how it goes and if you have any questions.

I ended up booking (using the link) through this site Resort for $105 and getting the Sheraton Waikiki from the 4th to the 10th. It was more than what we wanted to spend but we increased our bid on 3 stars up to $85 and didn't get anything.

Sorry to hear you had to go above what you wanted to pay, but you did get a good deal of over half off the $229 retail price.

Thank you for posting your win and a big thanks for using the site's PRICELINE link.

Enjoy your stay. :)
