Double_Downon11 Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 On Hotwire, looking at a hotel from 01/09/09 - 01/12/09 and found a 3.5* hotel in Fort Lauderdale beach area with the following ammenities.SuiteNear BeachSmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterLaundry FacilitiesCustomer FavouriteAny idea which this hotel could be?Thanks
AaronJB Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 When you click "see all amenities" on the detail page, if "kitchenette" also comes up - which it is for me - then this would be a likely match for the Doubletree Gallery One.If this is of interest, please use the site's link to HOTWIRE to start your purchase. Thanks.

Double_Downon11 Posted December 28, 2008 Author Report Posted December 28, 2008 I also found a 3* hotel in Central South Beach for the same dates available at a price of $99 per night. It looks like there are a number of hotels on the Hotwire list at 3* but didn't see anything that matched these amenities:Boutique HotelNear BeachFitness CenterGolf NearbyAny ideas what this hotel could be?thanks again.
AaronJB Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 Might be the Wave Hotel, but that is just a guess.
Double_Downon11 Posted December 28, 2008 Author Report Posted December 28, 2008 Might be the Wave Hotel, but that is just a guess.Okay thanks. Will likely stick to the Doubletree above. I will update once it's official.
Double_Downon11 Posted December 28, 2008 Author Report Posted December 28, 2008 Sorry to be a pain but I also noticed a 4* on Hotwire for Hollywood Beach for $141 per night. Is there anyway to determine whether it's the Westin or the Crowne Plaza.4* Westin DiplomatAmenities: Resort, Near Beach, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf(same as Crowne Plaza)4* Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach Sian Resort Amenities: Resort, Near Beach, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf (same as Westin Diplomat)Any other suggestions for a nice hotel with pool close to the beach for $125-$150 per night for the dates we are looking at.Thanks again.
AaronJB Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 On the detail page there's a 4/5 tripadvisor rating. If you look on TA, the Crowne Plaza is the only one of the two w/ a 4 out of 5, so I would have to go with that being the one showing.
Double_Downon11 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 FYI,I just got rejected on 9 different attempts to get a 4* hotel in Fort Lauderdale beach for 01/09/09 to 01/12/09 starting at $90 and my final bid was rejected at $130.We were really hoping to get a 4* or higher for a few nights on the beach but may have to settle for a 3*. Any other ideas? Thanks,Chris
AaronJB Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Were any of the HOTWIRE properties discussed in your other thread of interest?
Double_Downon11 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 Were any of the HOTWIRE properties discussed in your other thread of interest? The Doubletree may end up being the hotel we book with if it's still available but we liked the sounds of the Il Lugano and Hyatt Pier 66 a little better. Not trying to be picky just looking at all possible options.
AaronJB Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Alrighty - let me see if I can come up with some other ideas.
Double_Downon11 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 Alrighty - let me see if I can come up with some other ideas.Just for the heck of it I tried 4* South Beach for the same time frame up to $135 but as I figured it got rejected. I don't know anything about Hollywood beach vs Fort Lauderdale beach but if it's close to as nice with a few good restaurants within walking distance we could search there. Just unsure of the areas..Thanks again for the help.
AaronJB Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I can find the Westin Fort Lauderdale for $159 ($239 for the first and second nights, 3rd night free) non-refundable and the Sheraton Suites for $119 ($179 first two, 3rd free) non-refundable via the Stay 2 Nights, Get 1 Free deal below. Both get mixed reviews, but I thought I'd still pass the ideas along.Stay 2 nights, get 1 freeHappy to help, wish I was more familiar with the area.

AaronJB Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 No problem. :) I'll keep an eye out and post if I find anything else for these dates.
Double_Downon11 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 No problem. :) I'll keep an eye out and post if I find anything else for these dates.Sorry one more quick question. I see the Doubletree 3.5* is still available on Hotwire for $112 for the nights we are looking for. One thing I am curious about is if I should try searching for a 3.5* hotel on Priceline to see if it might be offered through them.

However, with PL you have to be willing to possibly get another 3*; there is also the possibility the Doubletree may have been upgraded to a 3.5* (there is 3.5* bidding in this zone, but no 3.5*'s reported yet.) since the last time it was reported. Not saying that this isn't a good idea; just that there are a couple of issues to think about.

I don't have much to lose so I will try to start 3.5* bidding for Fort Lauderdale Beach at $70 then go up to $100. If that doesn't work, then I will book on Hotwire for the 3.5 star hotel they show available. I will keep you posted. thanks!
