I prefer the Streeterville area because it's centrally located to where I want to go, but if the NMA isn't too far north it is an option.

Is it better to book now or should I wait. Last year I booked on Christmas Day for a similar timeframe and ended up at the Swissotel which was perfect for us.

The 4* Mag Mile may be the Hard Rock.

The 4* NMA may be the Westin Michigan Ave. or the Knickerbocker, but I would lean towards it being the Knickerbocker.

Second:

A good regular rate deal:

Expedia.com has the highly-rated Amalfi for $99.02. Use coupon code FAN50 for $50 off the final total. This would be a little more expensive (although the coupon helps), but it's one of the top rated hotels on Tripadvisor in Chicago and offers both a free breakfast and evening reception.

Hi,

Traveling with one adult and two 17 year old girls who want to shop both Michigan and State Sts. Also want to go skating at Millenium Park. They don't mind walking but I don't want to be more than 1-3 blocks off Michigan Ave. if possible and closer to the river than North Michigan. I prefer a 4* but 3.5* will do.

Thought at first might be Sheraton, but isn't Sheraton a 4* and the Sheraton has 300+ reviews? What do you think?

The Doubletree is about 3 blocks from Michigan Ave, towards the lake. Would you like me to see if I can find other options or will the Doubletree work for you?

If you are traveling with two 17-year-olds and want to be "in-between" Michigan Ave. and State St, the 4* Mag Mile/Streeterville with the amenities fitness, business, restaurant, internet is what I would recommend. Personally, I think that would be a better location. The HR is on Michigan Ave, a block South of the River. From HR, it's an easy walk to State St, a couple blocks South to Millennium Park and a couple blocks North to Michigan Ave.

That listing could also be the Westin River North, but I think that would work, as well. In fact, if it turned out to be the Westin, that would be a superb deal.

i booked the 4* Magnificent Mile/Streeterville.

It is the Sheraton Hotel and Tower for $76.00/night. This hotel will work out fine. I saw it out my window when I stayed at the Swissotel last year.

Amenities (as listed on Hotwire):

fitness center, restaurant, business center, high speed internet.

Sheraton's website says they have a pool, which Hotwire doesn't list.

Also, Sheraton's website says that it is an entirely smoke-free hotel.

Can you confirm the amenities shown? I ask because the hotel has been coming up with a "smoke free" icon in the recent past and if it didn't this time, we can change the site's hotel list.

I'm glad the hotel will work out for you though - it is in a good location for what you are looking to do. Hopefully you'll also get a room with a view, as many rooms at that hotel have some sort of view.
