Does anyone have any idea what hotels might fall under this newew category of 3 1/2* Upscale Plus in Cancun?

What are the dates of your stay and your budget? Generally speaking rates in cancun have been very inexpensive lately that i'm not sure if it would be worthwile to target a 3.5* property (which also may explain why the lowest reported hotel reported to the board in this area is 4 stars)

We are traveling 12/23 - 12/30. I have tried bidding 4*, 5* and Resorts for Cancun and Isla Mujeres as high as $135 and no luck. I know it's a busy travel week, but after looking at the prices others have gotten recently and the slow economy thought I might be able to get a deal. Trying to decide if I am willing to "step down" to a 3 1/2 star, but not sure what it might be.

Have you tried searching HOTWIRE... they have a 4* property at $162/nite in the South Hotel zone, not too much higher than you have already bid.

Amenities shown are:

Resort, Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa... best guess is the Omni.

Would this 4* property work for your plans?

Thank you for the suggestion. Was hoping to go no higher than $135 and get at least somewhat of a bargain. Guess the busy travel holiday won't allow that! :)

We ended up not using hotwire for this trip. Instead, we used priceline. 4* resort in the south zone $135 nt - Hilton Resort and Spa 12/23 - 12/30/08.
