thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! No need to fill out such an ugly form to get help here, we prefer to be a little more people-oriented. I almost feel like i'm jeapardy... i have the answers but need the questions :) Anyway, back to your situation....Based upon current rates I don't think $150 will be enough, it will likely take a bid closer to $160-$190. If you want to try anwyay i would recommend:Select 4* MTE and...Bid $120, if rejected add MTW and...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $150.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. If you change your mind and want to increase your bid or lower your star rating let us know and we'll post a follow-up strategy. char540
Thanks, I got kind of a curt response at the other travel message board, so I wanted to make sure I didn't upset anyone here.I will be bidding tonight...thanks for your help....I stilll have some time so I will see how it goes. mr.drew
Good luck. I use the other board sometimes for info only, but the administrators there are so darn rude, I don't see why they even have that board. This board rocks!Godd luck on the bid, I will be in NYC myself in late Sept. Link to comment
char540
Thanks, I heard some of the hotels don't release rooms until the last minute. Link to comment
thereuare
Did you try this since i posted and were rejected? I'm not clear as to whether you have bid this again or not. TBQ
Hi char540 - your dates overlap a convention of about 10,000 ear/nose/throat doctors and exhibitors at their trade show. While that number is not huge, the Marriott Marquis is the headquarters hotel and the Sheraton and NY Hilton are also on the housing list. The fact that these hotels are involved with the medical meeting could make it less likely that PL has lots of rooms available at these properties on these dates. As you noted above, sometimes rooms that are being blocked off for the meeting attendees get released as the convention date approaches, but there's no telling whether this will happen in your case. Best of luck in securing a good rate!!(PS, in your list in the first post, the Millenium Hilton is downtown, scross from the World Trade Center site - the NY Hilton and Towers, at 6th Ave and 53rd Street, is in Midtown West). YankeeCaliguy
I was rejected multiple times trying to find a 4* 9/13-9/20 for up to $160. Tried the bidding technique on the other thread and when I added 3* I got the small but trendy Paramount for $130. Rooms are tiny but location is supposed to be EXCELLENT (w46th-7th) Link to comment
char540
I have bid several times now are was rejected up to $140 so far. I will keep trying for a 4*. I have the Super 8 Midtown as my backup. It looks good and gets good reviews and i got it for only $125.99 a night. So we will see what happens I guess. :) Link to comment

char540
I got rejected again yesterday...bid up to $130. Will keep trying. I also got banned at the other travel board... but they banned my whole office ip. I am not sure how to contact their administrator about that. Link to comment
char540
Just an update...I now have a back-up at the Comfort Inn Midtown which gets GREAT REVIEWS...but I am still checking priceline and hotwire. Rejected last week up to $140 Link to comment
KatiesMom
Char are you getting rejected with both MTE and MTW? Link to comment

dahammer
Char, at this point, Jersey City is looking like a bargain. It looks like the Candlewood Suites has rooms at $66 plus tax and fees, $303.95 for all 4 nights on Hotwire. You can be a "bridge and tunnel" person for a few days and splurge on some other items while in NYC. Link to comment
char540
Bid up to $140 again today with no luck. I will keep trying! At least I have a good backup. Link to comment
