Chitown2803 Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Is it too early to book with Hotwire at this time...looking for 3.5* - 4* in Chelsea or MTW/TS.Probably would like to be around $200/night or cheaper would always be better. Not sure if I should try Priceline as well. Just worried about being a bad area/poor hotel. Only been to NYC once. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
Chitown2803 Posted December 12, 2008 Author Report Posted December 12, 2008 Yeah, we are actually going to be at Chelsea Pier, I believe, and Hell's Kitchen area.
AaronJB Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 There is a 4* in the Chelsea/MSG area on HOTWIRE for your dates with the amenities: smoke-free, fitness, restaurant, business, internet, spa. $189. This property has NOT yet been identified/reported, but if I were to venture a guess, I would think the Affinia Dumont would be a good possibility (although not guaranteed.)If this is of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE (click the HOTWIRE), as doing so supports the site.If you do purchase this listing, please report back and let us know what it turned out to be.
Chitown2803 Posted December 12, 2008 Author Report Posted December 12, 2008 Thank you, but unfortunately that is too far east for us. We are looking more west of broadway. Somewhere around 6th or 7th. MSG/MTW/Chelsea
AaronJB Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Quikbook.com has the Desmond Tutu Center (which gets excellent reviews - 4.5/5 on tripadvisor) for $198, which also includes free breakfast. This would be down the street from Chelsea Piers. If this is of interest, please use the site's link to Quikbook: Quikbook.com.This would appear to be a refundable reservation (no non-refundable designation, but double check the fine print), so in the meantime, you would have a well-reviewed hotel w/breakfast, but if a deal pops up on Hotwire or elsewhere closer to your date, you could cancel and book something else.
