bessam Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Hi all - looking to ID some hotels in Downtown Ottawa for 2 nights, 1 room, 2 adults, checking in on December 30 and checking out on January 1:4* - $103 - Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed3.5* - $96 - Shuttle, Fitness, Swimming, Restaurant, Business, High Speed-- I believe this could be the Lord Elgin?3* - $82 - Fitness, Swimming, Restaurant, Business, High Speed3* - $65 (Hull) - Fitness, Swimming, Restaurant, Business, High SpeedThanks in advance!
AaronJB Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 1. Not yet identified - quite possibly the ARC Boutique? However, in the case of the ARC boutique, you could get that cheaper by using Orbitz.com and the 10% off FABSAVE10 coupon code. $106.60 - 10% = $95.94Additionally, the tripadvisor rating on this Hotwire listing matches the ARC, but again, cheaper via Orbitz.com.__________________________2. Likely Lord Elgin3. Would be a potential match for the Crowne Plaza4. Not yet identified. If the Orbitz ARC idea is of interest, please use the site's link to Orbitz.com.If the HOTWIRE listings are of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE.
sandibeach Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 The one in Hull is probably the one across the Casino (not the Hilton Lac Lemay) The restaurant is a steak house Beefteck- regular ordinary hotel - I think it's a Country Inn or something of the sort. Looks ordinary, but clean... my guess for that price! I agree with Aaron on the other 3
slick_gd Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 The Hull hotel is likely one of these three:Four Points by Sheraton GatineauHoliday Inn Plaza la Chaudiere Ramada Plaza Manoir du CasinoI think the hotel sandibeach was referring to was the Ramada.
bessam Posted December 13, 2008 Author Report Posted December 13, 2008 Hi all - thanks for the feedback so far.I checked today and the 4* has gone up to $123 and the 3.5* / 3* has changed. Any ideas on these ones?3.5* - $90 - Shuttle, swimming, restaurant, business, laundry, high-speed3* - $75 - Fitness, swimming, restaurant, businessThanks!
E&E Company Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 I've noticed that prices on hotels.ca, spg.com have gone up as well. I think it's because of the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships are now being advertised and marketed ... crapola!
bessam Posted December 13, 2008 Author Report Posted December 13, 2008 Yea, I agree - plus, the whole New Year's Eve thing. Still, looking to book something today. The ARC Hotel is still $109 or so on Orbitz with the coupon AaronJB mentioned, but I'd still like to know what these new options are. Kind of bummed about missing out on the Lord Elgin though :/
AaronJB Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 These options have not yet been identified, and I'm having trouble - so far - finding hotels with shuttle that would fit the 3.5*, and the amenities of the 3* could make for a number of different properties. I'm trying to figure this one out, but with Expedia & Hotels.com being currently down, it might take a while.
AaronJB Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 Well, I did find one match. Still trying to figure out the 3*.3.5* would appear to be a match for the Delta Ottawa and Suites.HOTWIRE link: HOTWIRE.
thereuare Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 I don't know what the 3* is either, but i'll add that i too think the 3.5* is most likely the Delta. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bessam Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 Hey friends - thanks for all the feedback. In the end, we went with the Novotel Ottawa, booked through the hotel website for two nights, two adults, "Novation King" room with free high-speed internet for $269.94 CAD (approx. $220 USD) including all taxes and fees. Would have (should have) gone for the Lord Elgin but having missed it once, we didn't want to wait for it to reappear.Cheers,Bessam
slick_gd Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I would say to continue checking HOTWIRE up until your cancellation date with the Novotel (assuming you have the option to cancel). You never know what hotel might pop up and at what price.
