DTW-SFO 12/24-01/01 Bidding Help

2 adults + 2 children (2 yr+) traveling DTW-SFO-DTW preferably between 12/24 and 01/01.

Currently Orbitz & Hotwire have round-trip airfares hovering around $370 per person.

This is the first time I am using priceline for airfare bidding. What should be my first bid? I have seen the re-bidding thread and understood the procedure.

My guess is that you're not going to see any great deals for these dates as it's one of the peak travel periods of the year, and there is little reason for airlines to offer deep discounts to PRICELINE if they think they can sell these on their own.

What is the breakdown of the above $370 tix between base fare and fees/taxes? How much of a discount would you need in order to make a non-refundable purchase worthwhile in which you couldn't choose the flight times, non-stop flight, and length of the layover?
