It was interesting that on a computer I had logged into HOTWIRE on the price was $148. On a computer I did not use HOTWIRE on the price was $144. I guess I'm being penalized for being a return customer. :)

HOTWIRE uses a variable mark-up in order to increase opacity (so that the $142 hotel isn't always Hotel 'A' while the $147 hotel isn't always Hotel 'B') so their rates can often change from search to search.. it could have just as easily gone down in price instead of up (but usually users don't complain when that happens, so we hear about it a bit less :) )
