Hi everyone! I LOVE this place and recommend it to others as well as using this to launch my searches. I have had great luck on PRICELINE but have never tried for Vegas. We will be there from Saturday February 14th through Wednesday the 18th and would love a five star hotel or fabulous four star. I am pretty good on priceline but have no idea what is realistic- I know there is a big photography convention there that week, plus it is Valentines Day. Any tips? We want to be on the strip or close.

I am sorry! I did not mean since I found this site- I mean last year, when I tried Priceline on my own without guidance. WOuld you like me to try to reconstruckt what I did? WHen you answered my post last time I thought you meant when I use your strategy I should post the results.

I will go back in my e-mails and see if I can reconstruct the bids. If I had known then what I know now!

I found one of them and posted it in Oakland - East Bay- can you review to make sure I did it correctly?

I realized I could do a searc for Priceline in my e-mails and reconstruct what I did but it is rather embarassing as I thought when I signed up here I had done really well but now I amr reading- not so sure!

I will post the others as I locate the- I have a new laptop so am trying to reconstruct and am bedridden following knee surgery.

This is my first travel plan since I signed up in September....now I will use your link.

Thanks for the posts... for future reference you can easly see all your previous wins by going to PRICELINE and clicking the MY PROFILE link at the top of the page. There will then be a MY TRIPS section which shows all your previous winning bids.

In regards to your Vegas bidding... are you willing to pay more for a 5* vs. a 4*? What is your maximum bid for this stay? (and your maximum at each star level if you're willing to pay more for a 5* vs. a 4*) Since 2/14 is likely more expensive than the remaining nites (although i haven't confirmed this yet) is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.

Yes, we would be willing to pay more for 5*- I think that my concern is making sure what we end up with is ok.

I just discovered something interesting as we are meeting some family there and they are staying Friday and Saturday.Saturday night is Valentines Day. I suggested the Westin to them as it is smoke free and they have allergies- they have a $99 rate when they searched on Travelocity and when we did it for Saturday to Wednesday just to compare we got $169 a night including the Saturday. So they did not even give us the 99 for Saturday! I is also interesting that they have a lower rate for the 14th- perhaps Valentines is not such a big Vegas thing.

There is a big photography convention starting Sunday= that may be the issue.

If we were to do splitting, and that seems to indicate possibly having to move, I would want to stick to five 5tar.

As for maximum we want to pay...we would love to keep it at 150 or below- is that reasonable? Can it be lower? I have no idea what is possible/probable.

Thanks! Meg

How far from the strip is it? We do not need a casino. We are there first to meet family and do an engagement portrait, and then for the WPPI trade show. We gamble a bit but the smoke deters us. I will have to look around....a map lol.

I find it easy to go up and down the strip- plus we enjoy walking a lot while there. Trade show is at MGM Grand, family staying at Westin....which is all the way almost at the other end. Other important place- the candy apple store in the Bally's basement lol!

(btw, If I do not always retain things here that have been told me I apologize to everyone as I have a medical condition causing memory loss. )

I'm not seeing the Sunday as being the higher priced nite... at most hotels i'm seeing Saturday as being the most expensive.

If you decide to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID there's no guarantee that you will receive a 5* hotel for both legs of your stay. You could find success for the first purchase of your stay and then be turned down for a 5* for the second purchase of your stay.

Searching for your complete dates HOTWIRE shows a 4.5* property in the Center Strip zone for $119/nite (Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa) which is a match for Caesar's Palace so that would be our best guess... would this work for your plans?

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know your thoughts regarding the 4.5* property and how you'd liek to proceed and we'll take it from there.

We would rather not stay at Caesar's Palace. We have been there before.

In fact, we have revised our need for help to be for the nights Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th only- here's why-

And it is rather weird. Since my brothers and their girlfriends are wanting to stay at the Westin- (they have a lot of allergies and it is smoke free) I looked around for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there (we added another night as they are coming in to meet us Friday) and amazingly enough Travelocity gave it to all of us at $99 a night, including Saturday! I checked Expedia, Priceline, and Hotel.com and they all quoted 169-189 a night for the exact same nights at that hotel. SO we feel good about that- staying with family in te heavenly beds lol.

S0 my husband and I decided to definitely go five star for the remaining two nights of our stay after the family leaves. We are going to the trade show of WPPI convention at the MGM.

I decided to look around online and see what there is at 5 stars and the Signature at MGM Grand came up at $149 for Junior Suites. This gave me pause! That is right next to the convention and looks really good on "paper". There is a $20 resort fee also, which includes two bottles of water (lol!) local calls, high speed internet etc. (I always go for internet so this can be considered a savings of sorts). SO essentially 169 a night for five star.

So I am wondering now if there is a way to structure a bid so as to get that same hotel for less than 149 lol! Should I consider doing a 5 star search at 125 or so? Then again, I actually do not see this hotel on Priceline so perhaps it is not even an option.

Say I did submit 120 or 125 and got a hotel- what are the place I might end up? I saw the Signature a few places at tthe 149 price. It also kind of appeasl to head down to this end of the strip after staying down at the Westin.

Thanks!

Please note, as per the links in this thread and in our support page, that we are an affiliate of Travelocity and hopefully you used our links to begin your purchase of the first two nites :)

As far as the MGM Signature being a 5*, i'm not sure i would equate it with some of the other 5* hotels in Vegas (Venetian, Palazzo, Trump, THEhotel), they're more like condo/timeshare units, although it does sound as if it would work well for your needs since that is where the convention is being held.

As you can't bid for a specific property, nor has this property been reported on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE before, i would just take the given price if that is where you would like to stay.

Alas, I did not realize about Travelocity- will do from now on. In fact if we do book Signature I will lnk from here.

I might go ahead and do a Priceline bid for a low amount for 5* though in light of what you said- you never know! We feel we saved a bit on our first three nights and would love a true five star for the final two. Can you suggest a strategy?

It looked to me as if we would end up in the Trump- what are your feelings about that?

Given your happy with the MGM Signature and it's walkable to your convention, i don't think it would be worthwhile to stay at the North end of the strip.

If you decide you'd like to bid on PRICELINE anyway let us know your maximum bid as we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy which went higher than you were willing to spend.

I would like to try with a maximum of 150. I figure we are paying 149 plus 20 resort fee if we go with Signature, so if we were to end up on the ohter end of the strip., albeit with a nicer place, we would have $20 to spend on taxis.

Although it is indeed next to the trade show- we are NOT part of the convention- just wanting to go to the trade show, so proximity is not as critical.

I would love to know how Trump comnpares with Signature....

If we could get one for $100 or less- we would not care. But if it will be close to the price of Signature....we would rather be nearer to the MGM.

Also, I have found a web site for deluxe hotels offering an additional special of $25 resort credit at Signature for the same price- so we may have to use that site if we do book there. Is there any way you could be our link to that? If not, I think you know I sent a little bit via Paypal to thank you and I promise to use your links whenever I can....

So i'm assuming that your maximum bid is now $100 instead of the previously stated $150??

If so, at the 5* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 5* North and South Strip...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $79, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $84, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $91, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100

you ROCK! What an awesome thing you are doing.

I changed to 100 because even though it is quite unlikely to get it, that is my only reason I would switch.

I will be more reasonable in my bid strategy requests in the future.

Meanwhile, is it fine if I give the info about your site to a photography forum, a reality tv fan forum of thousands of people, and a dog forum? I want you to have lots of business. I mentioned they could ask me for it before but would love to post the URL.

Sure, we're always happy when users spread the BetterBidding word.

Hello again! I am back again- this time because I switched our air reservations to take advantage of that great SOuthwest deal- save a LOT of money but now will be in Vegas one extra night -February 12th. We are at the Westin from the 13th-16th and then the Signature 17th and 18th. For that extra night we would love to stay at a true five star for our one special evening alone before we meet up with others.

We would like to pay $150 or less (but could pay more- )would basically like a nice 5 star experience. We would love to end up at the Wynn but know that is not a guarantee.

Can you give us a bidding strategy?

Happy New Year!
