DagnyT Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 4.5* Chicago (Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville)12/10/08-12/12/082 adultsAmenities: Fitness Center, Restaurants, Business Center, High-speed internet access, Customer Favorite and Best Value$133/nightThought maybe it's the InterContinental, but no pool. Actually trying to avoid the Intercontinental so... There's a 4.5* in the next area up (North Michigan Ave Water Tower Gold Coast) coming up fo $189, but again, ony with those four amenities, not sure what's what.Traveling on business and I go to Chicago a lot so trying to stay somewhere new and Priceline has stuck me at the Sheraton or Hyatt Regency, which I dislike equally, the last few times. Just discovered this forum so thanks in advance for the help. Thanks!
slick_gd Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 The 4.5* in the Mag Mile zone looks to be the InterContinental. (The tripadvisor traveler review rating of 4/5 based on 280+ reviews matches better than the Conrad which was another option)The 4.5* in the Water Tower zone looks to match the Sofitel. (HOTWIRE mentions a tripadvisor traveler rating of 4.5/5 based on 380+ reviews. The Sofitel has a 4.5/5 rating on 391 reviews). The amenities also match. These would be my best guesses. If you plan on reserving, help support this site by using this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
AaronJB Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 The Intercontinental is actually really quite nice, and somewhat better located. While it's not the Sofitel, the $56 difference can go to a nice dinner. If I could suggest a completely different idea, the Amalfi is $148 on Orbitz.com. Use coupon code SAVEBIG20 for 20% off each night = $118.40 per night. Plus, you get free breakfast and evening reception. Plus, cheaper than either of the HOTWIRE ideas. The Talbott is $125 on Orbitz - SAVEBIG20 coupon - $100 per night. Both the Amalfi and Talbott are very nice properties (although the bonuses of the Amalfi are quite nice) and would bring your total down.If the Orbitz.com ideas are of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to Orbitz.com.
