spiffycalgal Posted July 25, 2004 Report Posted July 25, 2004 I attempted to bid $40, $45, and $50 for a 4* and 3* hotel and was rejected. I rebid $40 for a 2.5* and got the Hawthorn Suites. Not bad considering Hawthorn's website stated that the room goes for $149. Hawthorn Suites Sacramento321 Bercut DriveSacramento, CA 958141 Room $40.00/night + 11.30 taxes and service fees.Wednesday night (7/28)This hotel is not exactly Downtown-- it's about 1.5 miles from the State Capitol. Priceline's "Downtown Sacramento" map includes the far north part of Downtown (which is where most of the 2.5* and 2* places are). But they do have a free shuttle that takes you to the airport and Downtown. I've stayed here before (for a conference) and it was OK. It's right off of I-80 in a semi-industrial part of town. The river's right around the corner, so you could go walking/jogging but I wouldn't recommend it after dark. The complimentary breakfast is so-so.
