Hotwire Hotel: 3* Miami (Central South Beach) Albion South Beach

While ended up booking though Hotwire and not Priceline, I thought I'd post my Priceline bidding history for anyone who might find it useful.

Stay is for 11/28-11/29 (1 night, post-cruise). We looked in the South Beach area only. I checked Hotwire prices before I started bidding to get an idea of what I could get there. I used the Priceline and HOTWIRE links from this forum for my bidding/booking.

I had bids rejected at $99, $110, and $119 for 3.5* hotels. Hotwire prices on 3.5* and higher hotels were significantly above this, so I guess it's no surprise. We didn't want to go higher than that, though, since it just wasn't worth it for us.

I bid $79 and $89 for 3* hotels, and had both of those bids rejected. I decided to go with the somewhat more "known" of booking on Hotwire at $96 than to increase my bid on Priceline. We ended up with the Albion South Beach Hotel.

Hope the information's helpful!

I booked a hotel on Hotwire (using the forum link) today for a stay 11/28-11/29/08 (1 night, post-cruise). I searched for 3* Miami South Beach, ended up with the Albion South Beach for $96/night.

The hotel was described as: Boutique hotel, near beach, fitness center, pool, restaurant(s), high speed internet access. Tripadvisor review was listed as 3.5/5.0.

Hotels.com had the cheapest room here listed at $119/night for the same night, the Albion website shows it as $183, Travelocity.com has it at $193. Actual TripAdvisor reviews look mixed, especially for anyone who ended up in the cheapest "buddy room" (which I assume is what we will get), but the location looks great (2 blocks from the beach), and we will only be there a short time, so I'm happy with it.

Hope this helps!

Question for the moderator - why would you not leave the Priceline bidding information post on the Priceline forum (even though I ended up booking using Hotwire) instead of moving it here? People trying to book on Priceline might look on the Priceline forum and not the Hotwire forum, and I would think it would be helpful to have what was unsuccessful to help gauge where to start bidding. (Which is why I originally made two separate posts.)

Obviously, it's your forum so you can manage it however you want, I was just curious because I would have thought it would have been more helpful the way I originally posted it.

Thank you for sharing your results with the board and enabling us to add this property to the Hotwire Hotel List.

Over the years we've found it best to keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... this leaves fewer threads wtihout a conclusion (as most users who start a HOTWIRE thread and eventually used PRICELINE woudn't follow-up their first thread with the fact that they ultimatley used priceline, they'd just leave it 'hanging', with no reference to their PRICELINE win... and vice-versa)

As well, if a user is seeking help, it's easier to have both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE information in the same thread so that it is easier to follow what has already been tried and considered. Lastly, anyone looking for a deal for their stay would in all likelihood consider both services and check both forums (at least they should :) )

Hope that explains it a bit.

Enjoy this leg of your stay.
