Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Toronto (Downtown) Delta Chelsea

I have found this board to be very helpful in the past when booking rooms on HOTWIRE but I am yet to use PRICELINE so I thought I'd give it a go. I think I have an idea of how to use Priceline but wanted to post here before doing so.

1) Using the links on this website go to PRICELINE.com

2) Looking for a room downtown Toronto on December 6th. As long as it's downtown and a 3.5 star hotel or more, we don't mind which hotel we get.

3) We need 4-5 rooms and because of the poor Cdn dollar exchange were hoping for something under $55 USD.

Can anyone help start me off?

Thanks in advance.

At the 3.5* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3.5* Downtown...

Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $47, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55

Any questions feel free to ask.

You'll notice that when you select a zone on the initial bidding screen, Priceline will show you which star levels are available for bidding in that zone (the stars turn orange and the radio button beside it becomes selectable). Just do this for each zone, making sure that the zone you're checking is the only one selected, and make a note of the highest star level available in that zone. Your rebid zones are those that only have hotels of lower star level that what you're bidding for. For example, if you check Brampton, you'll see that 3* is the highest level available there, so it's a rebid zone for a 3.5* bid. On the other hand, if you check the Toronto Airport zone (remembering to un-check Brampton), you'll see that 4* is the highest there, so it's not a rebid zone for a 3.5* bid.

I'll also add, from Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)

Feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones before proceeding.

Thanks to everyone for your help with my questions. I definitely have it figured out for the future. I was able to book four rooms at the 3.5* Delta Chelsea for $51 USD (excluding tax). I checked their website and they want $149 plus tax Cdn so we are very happy with the deal.

We've stayed at the Delta Chelsea before and have been very happy. I also noticed someone else posted about cheap parking nearby so I appreciate the help there too.

There is a parking lot underneath an apartment building just minutes away from the Delta which is $9 for a full 24hrs. It's at 40 Gerrard St. E, directly across from the Ryerson Theatre. Here is a map: Cheap Parking Near Delta Chelsea

I used to use this parking all the time and never had any problems and it is the cheapest in the area. There should be a red sign out on the sidewalk near the entrance to the laneway beside the building which leads to the parking. There is a machine outside the garage door entrance where you purchase your ticket.
