Hokiegal7 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 I am curious as to if you can guess what the following hotels are on HOTWIRE that came up when I searched for the dates of 12/19-12/21 for our trip to NYC.3.5* in Midtown East - $129/n - amenities include fitness center, restaurant, business center, high-speed internet3.5* in Midtown Central - $139/n - amenicies include fitness center, restaurant, business center, high-speed internetIf you need additional info to figure this out, please tell me where to find it and I will try to help! It is my first time attempting to use HOTWIRE and also this message board (or any message board really!)Thanks much!
AaronJB Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Welcome to the site :)The Central 3.5* would likely be the Hudson, while the MTE would likely be the Roosevelt or Tudor. The Hudson has small rooms, but a very trendy, hip atmosphere/public areas and nice location. If a hip scene appeals, then I'd go with the potential Hudson. If not, I'd consider the other option (potentially either the Roosevelt or Tudor)If either of these are of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE (click the HOTWIRE) to start your purchase, as doing so supports the site.
Hokiegal7 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 The Hudson would be fun, I think. To be honest, I used to live right in that neighborhood - 3 blocks away! I walked past it ALL the time to get to the subway. I really hope that that is it, because I would love to stay there. However, if it is not...is a 3.5* rating still going to give you a decent hotel in midtown central? I'm not too concerned with needing posh amenities, just a nice clean place to sleep! :)
AaronJB Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 I definitely think that the 3.5* MTC is the Hudson; based upon the information given on HOTWIRE, I don't think it could be anything else. There is another 3.5* in MTC with the same amenities, but different tripadvisor rating. So, I'm confident that's the Hudson.HOTWIRE link: HOTWIRE.comPretty incredible location to have lived near! :) :)

thereuare Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 We havent reserved yet, because we are still seeing about our schedule....Are your plans currently firm? Will you actually be 2people or 4people? (since you list both above... or is this not yet determined)What is your budget to make this trip 'happen'? What else will determine if you're able to make this trip or not? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Hokiegal7 Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 No, the plans arent firm yet....we have to see if we have some family stuff going on first, but that is flexible. Mostly its just a monetary issue. I understand hotels in NYC are expensive, especially after having lived there - I just wish they werent! :)
thereuare Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 No, the plans arent firm yet....As you can see, the HOTWIRE offerings constantly change, and the hotels above may not be the ones which are offered once your plans are firm and you're ready to commit to a non-refundable purchase. Please wait until your plans are firm and at that time let us know what is currently being offered by HOTWIRE and we'll try to assist. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. Hokiegal7 Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 I'm sorry, I didnt mean to seem like I was wasting your time or anything....that is definitely the weekend we would go, I am just re-checking prices all the time on Hotwire and based on your previous responses, even if the price happens to change, I can typically figure out if it is the same hotel you "guessed" it was before. REgardless, thank you for your help - I appreciate it.
Hokiegal7 Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 Ok...our dates are now firm, thus we are looking to book on these dates...12/19-12/21. thereuare Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 We do not know yet if we are doing 2 people or 4 peopleYou still can't make a purchase until you know how many guests you will be, and the hotel offerings may change yet again between now and the time you're ready to make a purchase. Hokiegal7 Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 wow, sorry - I didnt mean to annoy you. I am new at this, as are others probably (and they are probably learning a lot from my posts). We are definitely going on those dates, but are trying to determine whether it is 2 or 4 of us going, but it depends on the cost. As you know the economy is tough. Thus, when I tell the group what the hotel cost is, it would be nice to have a guess as to which hotel it is as well to help sell the pitch. That is why I did 2 hotwire searches - one for 2 people, one for 4 people, and listed what the results were for you. I guess I will just have to look at your list from march of hotels by their star rating and try and figure it out myself and wing it, since you cant guess...thanks for your time, sorry to have bothered you. :)
thereuare Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 You didn't annoy me, and knowing so, hopefully you'll re-read my message above with this in mind and won't interpret any negative tone, as none was intended. With so many posts on the board and users seeking assistance, we try to make sure that plans are firm before identifying properties (as reasearching hotels is a time consuming process)... this makes it possible for most of the posts on the board to be answered in a timely manner, which is important for those whose plans are immiment and ready to make a purchase. This increases the likelihood that the hotel they asked about is still available... if we didn't reply for a few days it could be a hotel they wanted, but may no longer be offered on their HOTWIRE search. Why not tell your friends the star rating and price, see if they're interested in a hotel of that star quality for that price, and if they are, then get back to them just before the purchase with what you think the hotel might be (with our help). The Hotwire Hotel List is dated 2003, but is kept current and updated with new information as it is received, as explained in our PRICELINE FAQ.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Hokiegal7 Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 Its ok - I just wanted to make sure, since you have been very helpful with this and I appreciate that.I am using your list that you made in march and hoping to formulate some guesses from there so I can help them out! I think I have figured out some of them - I just need to compare them to tripadvisor to see if that is the rating on there. Thanks again!
