tessaday Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 HiAfter two happy and one not so happy experiences with HOTWIRE, have decided to take my daugher to NYC to celebrate her birthday, but want everything to be great, so any help identifying the hotels on offer would be great. thereuare Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 We've indicated below our best guess for each:4-star hotel in Times Square - Theatre District $203Fitness, restaurant, business centre, high speed internetTrip Advisor 4.0 out of 5 Based on 520+ customer reviews (Last reviewed September 2008)Millenium Broadway4-star hotel in Midtown Central $166Fitness, restaurant, high speed internetNo TA ratingsAlgonquin4-star hotel in Empire State Building Area $204Boutique, complimentary breakfast, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet3.5 out of 5 Based on 100+ customer reviews (Last reviewed September 2008)Morgans **NOTE: the number of reviews (based upon the Tripadvisor information) doesn't match, but when going to Tripadvisor you'll see the reviews for this property only start in Sept '08 (and the htoel has been around since before then) so i'm guessing that this may still be the hotel and for some reason some reviews were removed from this listing4.5-star hotel in Midtown Central Fitness, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet4.0 out of 5 Based on 60+ customer reviews (Last reviewed October 2008)RoyaltonPlease use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. tessaday Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 Wow, that was very speedy - thank you so much for your response. I have a question - is it best to go for it now, or should we wait until just before we go - are the options likely to increase or decrease? There is one more hotel I was wondering about:4.5-star hotel in Midtown Central $309Fitness suite, restaurant, business center and hi-speed internet4.0 out of 5 Based on 60+ customer reviews (Last reviewed October 2008) Advice on these two issues would be gratefully received. Many thanks ...........
thereuare Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 I have a question - is it best to go for it now, or should we wait until just before we go - are the options likely to increase or decrease?HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star rating per zone, so the offers may change, but you wont be given more to choose from at each star level (unless a zone is not currently showing a hotel at a given star level and one becomes available... likewise an offer in a current zone may disappear and not be replaced with a different hotel if no other hotels at that star level are offering inventory to HOTWIRE). As far as "when to bid" see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.4.5-star hotel in Midtown Central $309Fitness suite, restaurant, business center and hi-speed internet4.0 out of 5 Based on 60+ customer reviews (Last reviewed October 2008)I'm not seeing any hotel offered for your dates with a Suite icon, so i'm assuming this is part of "fitness"? If so, isn't this the same property as the last one you asked about above? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. tessaday Posted November 15, 2008 Author Report Posted November 15, 2008 Yes, it is only my daughter and I - we often come to NYC (well often for someone living in the UK) and usually book our hotels the conventional way, but thought we would try HOTWIRE this time (don't quite understand the PRICELINE method and not sure if you can do it from the UK).Thank for the info about the deals - I will check them out. Have now found another hotel on HOTWIRE, which I don't think I have seen before. Still for 18th to 22nd December: 4-star hotel in Central Park Area $202Boutique Hotel, Fitness Centre, Restaurant, High Speed InternetNo Trip Advisor ratings.Any ideasKind regards
thereuare Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 The 4* Central Park Area is a match for the Empire Hotel so that would be our best guess. You can use PRICELINE if you follow the address technique in this Priceline Non-US thread. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

tessaday Posted November 18, 2008 Author Report Posted November 18, 2008 HiStill looking, and asking questions I am afraid. Any ideas on the following - 18 - 22 December4 -star hotel in Midtown Central $163Fitness suite, restaurant, business center and hi-speed internetTripadvisor 4.0 out of 5 Based on 320+ customer reviews (Last reviewed September 2008) 4-star hotel in Midtown East $165Fitness suite, restaurant, business center and hi-speed internetTripadvisor 3.5 out of 5 Based on 580+ customer reviews (Last reviewed October 2008) Also, the following matches Morgans Hotel which I asked about last week, but the price is quite a bit lower. Is it still Morgans do you think?4-star hotel in Empire State Building Area $169Boutique, complimentary breakfast, restaurant, business centre, high speed internetTripAdvisor 3.5 out of 5 Based on 100+ customer reviews (Last reviewed September 2008)Sorry for all these questions, but a bit nervous about things ........Kind regards
AaronJB Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 The 4* in ESB would still likely be the Morgans Hotel. The 4* MTE would likely be the Doubletree Metropolitan. 4* MTC is possibly the Warwick.

tessaday Posted March 3, 2009 Author Report Posted March 3, 2009 Exactly what aspect are you nervous about? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.HiWe were really grateful for all the help, but in the end we got a good rate for the Courtyard Marriott Times Square South by going directly to Hotel Manager. It's my daughter's favourite hotel, and so we went with that. Got upgraded to a suite too (as we had the previous time), so very happy. But thank you for all your advice, and we will certainly be using HOTWIRE (via your link) again on future trips to the US.
