jjj3663 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Hi.I have been reading all information appropriate for the stay I'm bidding on, and wanted to try it hands-on instead of just reading words that didn't quite give me the whole picture before asking questions. So I low-balled my bid at $45 for a 4* Toronto Downtown, seeing others had great result. I thought I had only two rebid zones, Missisauga and Oakville - Burlington. Which I later realized I have 6 others as of today (Toronto West, Don Valley, Scarborough - Pickering, Toronto East, Vaughan - North York, and Brampton). Please correct me if I am wrong.I wanted to try to exhaust my rebid zones without raising my bid first, but I don't understand why. So how do I know how many 'rebid zones to try' do I have? Will someone kindly explain.I did $45 for zone A,zone A+B,zone A+C,zone A+B+CSo there's no way to bid on the same price following all the permutations in the Bidding Again before 24 hours (Used to be 72 hours), -it can often be done! ? Because simply adding the new zone will do me no good? My new offers were an exact duplicate of my previous offer, and will be rejected again?Of course now I just have to wait my 24 hours. Thanks
thereuare Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! At the 4* level in Toronto you actually have 9 re-bid zones. (i'm assuming you're checking them correctly but happened to miss one... feel free to confirm your re-bid zones with the board)I wanted to try to exhaust my rebid zones without raising my bid first...I'm not really sure what you did here... did you add re-bid zones without raising your bid at all? When you add a re-bid zone it's essentially bidding on the original zone a second time, so what would be the point if you didn't increase your bid?My new offers were an exact duplicate of my previous offerDo you remember exactly what bids you made, using the PRICELINE zone names? Was $45 your highest rejected bid thus far? If you let us know your maximum bid for this stay we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jjj3663 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 Thanks thereuare. You're right, at the 4* level in Toronto, there are actually 9 re-bid zones. I just missed some. I am now starting to pick up on the rebid thing. Here's what I did,First, I bid on 4* Toronto (downtown), and I tried $45 - $55. Each time at $1 increments, and got rejected for all of them.Next, I bid on 3.5* Toronto (downtown), and I tried $43 - $55 as well. Each time at $1 increments, and got rejected for all of them.Lastly, I went ahead with 3* Toronto (downtown), and I tried $45 and $46. Because the only rebid zone I found was Toronto East, so that should only give me two tries? So I really need help now, as I don't know where to take it from here. Thanks

jjj3663 Posted November 15, 2008 Author Report Posted November 15, 2008 I had my dates split into 11/24 - 11/27, and 11/27 - 12/01.For 11/24 - 11/27 at a 4*, I started at $48 and won at $60 for Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.As for 11/27 - 12/01, I couldn't do the above; and gave 3.5* a try. Started at $48 and got $57 for Delta ChelseaThanks a lot.Now, if only I could change the topic. :)
thereuare Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Congratulations on your success(es)! Please post only one win per thread... we'll use this one to reflect your first puchase of the Sheraton (we'll edit the topic title accordingly); please start a NEW TOPIC for the Delta Chelsea. This will allow us to stick with the boards format of including the details of each win in the topic title and also enable each to have its own link in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.Glad to hear you were successful and hopefully pleased with the results. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
