bka Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 I'm not familiar with Chicago but have decided to take my family to see Dirty Dancing on Dec. 26. Could you advise as to which area would be best for two adults - late fifties and two young married twenty somethings? In the mag mile I see a 3 star listing - fitness, buisness, internet and lowest price guaranteed for $72 and a 3 star in the NMA for $69 listing boutique, no smoking, fitness and restaurant. Can you identify either of these and am I insane to think we could get a downtown hotel for those prices? Any help would be appreciated. I have used the board before and I have used the links.Thank you
thereuare Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I have used the board before and I have used the links. Thanks for using our links... but it would also be appreciated if you shared your wins with the board, helping future users as others before you have done. For your Chicago stay above, are you searching for one room or two? If only one room, are you including 4adults on your search above which resulted in those offerings? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 The day after Christmas is generally not busy in the city in terms of hotel traffic. November/December this year do appear slower overall (actually, the whole year has seen a drop in hotel prices from what they were the last 3 years or so), and prices are cheaper. If you are planning primarily to come to the city to go to the show, then I'd stay in the MP/Loop area. If you are planning a day of shopping and then going to the show at night, then I'd stay in the NMA area and cab it to the show and back.I would not recommend the 3* boutique in the NMA, as that's likely the poorly reviewed Tremont. Are you getting 2 rooms w/2 each or all 4 in one?
bka Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 We will be going to the show for the matinee and will be looking for restaurants or a jazz club for Friday evening and then shopping or sight seeing on Saturday. We will be getting 2 rooms with two persons each. I bid $60 for the Mag mile because it looked as though some others had gotten the Hyatt but no luck so far. Thanks for the heads up on the Tremont.
thereuare Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 What is your maximum budget for this stay? What appears to be the Inter-Continental seems to be available on HOTWIRE for $93/nite and gets very good reviews.Thoughts? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bka Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 I was hoping for something a bit lower because I'm anticipating taxes, parking etc. I will probably keep looking or maybe bid again on PRICELINE.
