Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (Downtown-Soho-Financial) Millenium Hilton

decided to celebrate my birthday last year in NYC with friends. Used PRICELINE as I've had good luck in the past......

Started bidding aprox 2 weeks ahead of my travel dates.

Got lucky bidding:

1- 4* MTE @ $125- rejected

2- 4* MTE & MTW @ $130- rejected

3- 4* MTE/MTW/Upper Midtown-CPS @ $140- rejected

4- $* MTE/MTW/ Upper Midtown-CPS/ Downtown, Soho, Financial District @150- rejected

Waited a day or so and bid again

1- 4* MTE @ $150- rejected

2- 4* MTE & MTW @ $160- rejected

3- 4* MTE/MTW/Upper Midtown-CPS @ $170- rejected

4- $* MTE/MTW/ Upper Midtwon-CPS/ Downtown, Soho, Financial District @175- The bid for $175 was rejected but it was immediately followed by a message saying that there was a 4* hotel available for my stay if I was willing to increase my bid another $25 dollars per night which I did.

Got the Millenium Hilton for $200 a night.

Fantastic hotel, exceeded my expectations. Got a big corner room on the 16th (?) floor with a king size bed. Panoramic views of the water, bridges and city- unobstructed views as the hotel overlooks the world trade center site-- this might have changed since it was last February.....

Huge room by any standards, and beautiful contemporary interior. Close to subway stations. Would absolutely stay there again.

While you were happy with the deal, to assist in your future bidding (and so others don't follow the same strategy) the above may have been a bit of an overbid...

1) PRICELINE will usually accept less than their counter-offer, as per this thread: Priceline Suggests Price to Pay

2) adding live zones and increasing your bid at the same time can often result in an overbid... you never gave your chance to win this hotel if it was offered between $151-$175... a better approach would have been closing your browser between some of your bids and includng re-bid zones

However, all is wel that ends well adn we're glad ot hear you enjoyed yoru stay and have a great time in NYC.
