From what I've seen Toronto is a great Priceline city. If you focus on 4*s your free bids are numerous. I've gotten the Harbour Castle and the Sheraton at super prices and was not disappointed. My recent bid win is at the Le Meridien --- I'm not so sure how it'll work out for 4 curling teammates in 2 rooms but in the worst case we'll end up with a couple of cots. I guess the junior members of the team get the cots. It does, however, look like a great hotel for a couple. How can you beat it at $58 / night per room. Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to BetterBidding, bgmn.

My best guess for the 3* is the Comfort Suites City Centre. The 4* also showed smoke-free rooms when I searched; if that's the one you're looking at, my best guess is the Renaissance Downtown.

If you decide to book one of these rooms, please use the Hotwire link on this site to start your purchase.

I took the advise of trying PRICELINE for my toronto stay

I am quite happy with the results

I started my bid at $46 for a 4 star

I then rebid at $48 for a 3.5 star and got the Delta Chelsea

thanks for your help

Congratulations on your win bgmn! The Delta Chelsea is one of the best located hotels in the city right on Yonge St. and steps away from many bars/restaurants/shopping/transit.

If you are driving in and looking for cheap parking I know of a place very close by that is a full 24hrs for just $9. Cheap Parking Location. It's underneath an apartment building, but is secure. I used to park there all the time when I was in University.

I recommend that you read this post on Priceline rebidding. You could have used this method to make several more bids for a 4* or 3.5* hotel without lowering the star level. You should never simultaneously lower the star level and raise your bid unless you are desperate, because it can easily lead to overbidding. In this particular case, you might not have been able to do much better anyway, but HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in Downtown Toronto East for $49 (amenities: smoke-free, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, high-speed internet, children's activities) that I'm pretty sure is the Delta Chelsea. I usually start at least 25% less than Hotwire's price when I have sufficient rebid zones to work with.

Having said that, you got a good rate for this hotel, so congratulations.
