Caseydog Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Fitness/Pool/Rest/Bus Center/H.S. Internet$84/night December 28th for one night?I'm guessing this is the Intercontinental. Any other possibilities? We want a pool for our daughter but also want a high end hotel. What would the 4.5 star in the same are be?Thanks. This is my first time here and I've never used Hotwire or priceline
AaronJB Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Welcome to the site :)How many in your party?I see a 4* with those amenities + smoke free in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area, which would be the Sheraton - which I would not recommend - it's a very average hotel. The 4.5* would likely be the Conrad or Intercontinental.I would NOT recommend the Intercontinental on the basis of a pool; the pool there is absolutely STUNNING. However, it is a junior olympic lap pool, and much more for exercise (the shallow end - as I found out - wasn't shallow) than relaxation. Let me see if I can find a better idea.
AaronJB Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Personally, I'd really recommend the 3.5* in the NMA area with the amenities: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa that comes up when searching for 2 adults 1 child for these dates. While no pool, this is a likely match for the very nice Hotel Indigo, which is a really cute boutique hotel in the Gold Coast area, and one of my favorite downtown properties. That is showing up for $86.If you must have a pool, the Sheraton would be the cheapest idea; I didn't care for that hotel all that much - I wouldn't classify it as "poor", simply very average. However, the Sheraton is in a terrific location and does have a pool. What I would recommend in terms of the Sheraton is to book it via the hotel website for $89, where at least you can specify a view room, which you may not get for $84 via HOTWIRE. The Sheraton rooms do have some very nice views, especially if you can get a higher floor room. Views include either the river, city, lake or some combination of the bunch. For $109, you can get a Club Floor room - THAT is a good deal. The Club Floor would offer:Sheraton's Sweet Sleeper Beds Complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon hors d'oeuvres Beautiful bi-level lounge with breathtaking views of the city skyline 32 inch flat screen televisions Plush robes and turndown service Complimentary High-speed Internet access Complimentary local and 800 phone calls for up to 30 minutes Complimentary health club accessIf I remember correctly, the Sheraton does charge for pool/health club access, so if that could be included (as well as breakfast and hors d'oeuvres), then the $109 deal would be a very good choice. If this is of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could start your purchase via the site's link to Sheraton below.SheratonIf the HOTWIRE ideas are of interest, it would be appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE.
