brehaul30 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I discovered this site in October and used the info here to save over $100 on a room in Toronto (I used the links to HOTWIRE!) I would like to book a room if the price is right, in St. Catherines or Niagara Falls for this Saturday night (Nov 8). Any suggestions to grab an inexpensive 3 or 4 star last minute? Nice, kid friendly hotel preferred...parking or breakfast incl. would be a bonus! Thanks, TT
slick_gd Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I discovered this site in October and used the info here to save over $100 on a room in TorontoIt would be nice if you could share this win with the board.Just a couple questions before we can suggest a strategy:What is your maximum budget for your stay? Do you have a preference where you would like to stay i.e. the Falls or Lundy's Lane area or St. Catherines? You mention kid friendly, will you need more than 1 bed in your room? Would you prefer to try for a 4* and then open up to a 3* or does it not matter?Keep in mind that with PRICELINE you never know which hotel you are going to get, so parking and breakfast may not happen, especially if you are looking for a hotel in the Niagara Falls area. Very few hotels in that zone offer parking, and almost none to my knowledge offer breakfast, especially in the 4* range.Travelzoo.ca usually has some great Niagara Falls deals around this time of year. Right now they have a deal for the Hilton Niagara Falls for $109 that includes: * FREE upgrade to Jacuzzi suite for Sunday-Thursday stays * FREE valet parking * $50 Fallsview Dinner Voucher * FREE tickets to Bird Kingdom * Buffet breakfast for 2 * FREE shuttle to falls & attractionsGet to the offer through this link: Hilton Niagara Falls Travelzoo OfferIf this doesn't work you can see this offer from the main page of Travelzoo.ca (in the box to the right titled This Week's Top 20) but you will have to sign up to book the offer
brehaul30 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Posted November 7, 2008 Thanks for the info...being new to this forum, I will describe hotwire win below. If it is best to create a new post for a hotel win from a month ago, I would be glad to do so....let me know. Now that I joined, I will post wins in the future. The win was Delta Chelsea for $89 when the best they could offer was $225. The Scotiabank Marathon was on and they were 96% booked according to one receptionist. The best part was that she told me to buy through hotwire and then call back and she would upgrade the room. I used the info and link from this board and luckily got the Delta Chelsea. My preferences for Nov 8...4* at the falls (might consider 3*) or 3* or better in St. Catherines. Two beds would work best but I could live with one. Hoping for a nice hotel for $50-75.The travelzoo deal is worth a look. We are in town for a sports tournament and I am simply looking to save some gas and driving time while having some R&R with the kids. If I score a hotel deal, great, if not Tim Hortons and Petro Canada get the profits! Thanks for your help. TT
