djrh Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 It'll be my first time in Paris, so I need something that's close to major attractions since I'm limited in time (arriving Sat morning, leaving Sunday night).Willing to go up to 140-150 for good 4* and 100-120 for good 3*.thanks in advance.

bacai Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 check with the hotel you like first, since many major hotels give deep discount for weekend rate.Would not bid with 3*, since paris 3* = 2* for us standard (room size).check where is the zone you like to stay as mentioned from previous post. However, paris is smaller than you though, transportation (metro) is convenient. Everywhere is near major attractions (except airport & disneyland zones).
djrh Posted October 10, 2008 Author Report Posted October 10, 2008 thank you both for your answers. The point is I have no clue which zone to bid for. I just want it to be close to everything major. Also, I will be coming to Paris by train from London (Gare du Nord) and leaving it by plane (CDG).I would appreciate your input on chosing bidding zones. Since you mention downton Paris is not that big, I would like to get the best value/quality ratio for a 4* downtown hotel.thanks.
thereuare Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 My experience in Paris was that things were fairly spread out... there is no one zone that is near 'everything' major. Fortunately there is a good metro system which can easily get you around the city inexpensively (look into the Orange cards and the unlimited day pass options)Best gameplan is usually to find out which things you'd like to do, view them on a map, and then see which metro stops/lines are near those attractions (or an easy connection) and then focus on zones which have multiple stops for any of the subway lines which are near your list of atractions.Another option is to enter "paris" (without the quotes) in the QUICK SEARCH box at the top of the board which will return all the wins for Paris... see which zones are purchased/won most frequently (and then doublecheck to see if these areas will work for your own needs)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. djrh Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Posted November 5, 2008 Since I did not really care about location, started at $91 and kept adding zones at $2 increments. 101 was accepted (116 tax in)A bit off, but I won't be in and out all the time.Of course, I used the linkaroo :)
