Welcome to BetterBidding!

To begin, we'll need a bit more information... what is your maximum bid for this stay? (per nite before fees and taxes) What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept? Do you need to stay close to this location, or if you're able to get a cheaper hotel someplace nearby, would you be willing to commute to the location?

Let us know the above and we'll be able to start to take a look at the above.

Max bid would be $175 for a place thats not scary....run down....4 star would be great but 3 star is probably more realistic for 175 night at this late date....it would be good if we could walk from penn station to the hotel but we could commute to the seminar at 20th and Broadway from the hotel....I saw on the calendar of wins that someone won the Marriott Marquis for $170 on Friday night....wow! How is that possible...janie

I think $175 may be tough even for a 3*.

The BIG 'issue' that you're going to have is that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy. If you use PRICELINE you could get a hotel with only one bed and many NYC hotel rooms are notoriously small with little or no room for a rollaway bed.

HOTWIRE does allow you to search for up to quad occupancy, and guarantees sleeping accomodations for each person included in your search, but currently all HOTWIRE offerings at the 3* or better quality level are above your limit, even when searching for double occupancy.

Let us know your thoughts (are you willing to accept the occupancy risk of PRICELINE) and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

That's just the thing... maybe.

You can't bid on a specific hotel with PRICELINE (otherwise there would be no need for anyone to book direct). The deeply discounted prices we often receive is in exchange for not knowing the spacific property before your purchase. While you could receive this hotel on a winning bid, you could just as easily receive something else, and some hotels (at all star levels) in NYC don't have enough room in them for a rollaway (yes, some hotel rooms are that small) I'm not trying to be a 'neigh-sayer' but feel it's important to always try to prepare users as best as possible for "what if" scenarios as far as what could go wrong.

If you do choose to book this hotel thru a 'retail' channel please use our PRICELINE link to begin your reservation.

Otherwise, feel free to ask any questions and/or let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to help.

EDIT TO ADD: i did just find a room at The Hotel at Times Square which has TWO queen beds for $204/nite thru Quickbook. (there is a $169/nite rate at this hotel but that is for ONE queen bed and states 2ppl max) I'm not too familiar with this property but the reviews are very good... woudl this work for your needs? If so, please use this Quickbook link to begin your reservation. (NOTE: the price goes up to $219/nite if you declare triple occupancy, but since you were willing to 'sneak' above, i assume you could probably get away with booking the room with two queen beds for two people, then just only having two of you go to the desk during check-in)

The Hampton Inn Empire State Building/35th Street has a rate of about $184 for these dates (it's $189 for the first, I believe it's $179 for the second). This would get you a free breakfast and a king bed - not to mention a pretty new/newer property.

If this is of interest, please start your purchase by using the link below to the Hilton website, as doing so would help support the site. Once at the Hilton website, you can search for NYC and the Hampton should be one of the options.
