sphtravel Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Not sure what's going on that day, but you can get the W hotel for only $199 the next day. Please help with suggestions on safe and economic lodging on 12/6/08 as I will be alone in the city. Thanks! I'm arriving in the morning of 12/6 at 7am to JFK, then leaving the next night from the same airport. Would prefer locations with easier travel from airport and upper west side (wedding to attend on 12/6)
thereuare Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept for this stay?Does the wedding have a block of rooms reserved anywhere at a discounted rate? sphtravel Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 I'm thinking about 3 stars. I just noticed they did have hotel blocks reserved at 3 West Club but seems to require 2 nights at $180, I will double check. They also recommended empire hotel, Park Meridien, etc, all are above $400/night. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 The Stay. hotel (which just recently opened) is available for $246 on sale for 12/6 via Quikbook, which is certainly much cheaper than most hotels for 12/6 (which appears to be a VERY expensive date.)You can also get the Hudson for $179 via THIS LINK for 12/7Another 12/7 option is the Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square for $181 via Orbitz. If any of these are of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's links to Orbitz or Quikbook to book these dates.
sphtravel Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 Thank you for your tips! It looks like Stay is full on that night. It is indeed a very expensive day! I might try my luck on the Jersey side.
sphtravel Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 I bid successfully for $215/nt at the 4* Millenium Hilton (financial district). I started with $170, then randomly adding disctricts, increasing to $180, $200, then $215. When bid was accepted, I had selected all districts except for Chelsea, Upper East Side and Brooklyn. I stuck with 4* hotels. Used PRICELINE links for bidding. Thanks for your help!
