jig Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 Need a bidding strategy and instructions (step by step)
thereuare Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, what are the correct dates of your stay... above you list both 11/12 and 11/13 as your check-out dates. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jig Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 Hi Sorry that should be the 12th Nov. I dont mind splitting my stay so if it is cheaper, I can do 11/7 and 11/8 together and then the 11/9-11/12
thereuare Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Is the North Strip (near the Stratosphere) an acceptable location for part of this stay? What about if you ended up slightly off-strip (such as the Westin, which is located slightly off the strip, but still in PRICELINE's "central strip" zone)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jig Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 That sounds fine, as long as its a couple of mins cab ride tat is cool. How do I get the deals? (sorry complete newbie)
thereuare Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 For 11/7-11/9 HOTWIRE has a 3* property in the North Strip zone for $95/nite with the following amenities:Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Golf, Spa, LaundryThis is a match for the Stratosphere so that would be our best guess. Generally speaking the hotel itself is nice, but the location, and the 'element' around this property, is not that desirable.for 11/9-11/12 HOTWIRE hasThe same 3* hotel above is available for $25/nite. For the location reasons mentioned above i would not recommend staying here for your entire stay, but i mention this here simply because i don't know how tight your budget is and at $25/nite is certainly inexpensive, and also gives you the 'luxury' of not having to change hotels during your stay.HOTWIRE also has a 3* hotel in the South Strip zone with the following amenities:Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, Golf, SpaThis is a match for the Tropicana. This hotel does not get great reviews, but again, for the price it may be an option for you, and the location is good on the "Four Corners"There is also a 4* property in the Center Strip zone for $68/nite with:Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, SpaThis is a match for the Planet Hollywood, and while more expensive than the other hotels mentioned above, it may be the best value of the three based upon price vs. quality. You can either take the above scenarios OR try to beat each segment of this stay via PRICELINE.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. I am happy to take a gamble on priceline, how is this done as you can see im trying to sqeeze as much value out of my buck!!Thanks again keep the info coming...Jig
jig Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Posted November 5, 2008 I am planning on booking the MGM on the 11 and 12 of Nov for $70 a night direct with them as I think that is a good deal, so now I just need to find accomodation for the rest of my stay, can you help please?
thereuare Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 As per our support page, please note that we are an affiliate of the MGM Grand so please use our link to begin your reservation if you choose to book direct. Is the above $70 rate just for one nite 11/11 as you previously confirmed your check-out date was 11/12 (or have you since changed the length of your stay)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jig Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Posted November 5, 2008 HiIt is for the 10th and 11th of November. So I still need accomodation for the fri, Sat and Sunday. I havent booked yet, so when I do I will use the affilite link provided, thanks.Any help for those dates and my requirements?Jig
jig Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 Please help will be in vegas tommorow and have no hotel!! Sorry, and thank you for your patience but I dont have a clue what im doing with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE :) please help!!
thereuare Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Since you only have one shot at this, you need to figure out your best deal should you be rejected with PRICELINE, and base your maximum bid on that figure. What is the best deal you're able to find outside of the opaque providers? Also, have you already booked the MGM Grand? Given the higher weekend rates, it is probably better to book Friday and Saturday together and then the balnce of your stay elsewhere (rather than the grouping Friday and Saturday along with Sunday and then the rest of your stay elsewhere)... why not book the Sun-Wed at the MGM Grand (which averages $93/nite) and then do something different for Friday and Saturday nite? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (and our MGM Grand link) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jig Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 Thats thereuare, I will book the MGM grand Monday and Tuesday night using the affiliate link from here. So I want to get the best hotel on the strip for Fri/Sat/Sunday and my max budget is $120 a night. Please can you guide me through the process? How quickly will I get confirmation? and would there be any issues im from the UKThanks again for your continued advice and support
jig Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 Anyone?! Help flying out in less then 14 hours!! Advice desperately needed
thereuare Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Please don't bump your threads for a lack of reply in one hour (or 1:03 to be precise) as it usually just delays a response since we typically go thru posts chronologically based upon last post.My question above is why are you not booking the MGM Grand for an average price of $93/nite for Sun-Wed and then trying PRICELINE for just Friday-Sun... i think overall (in terms of price and quality of hotel) it's a mistake to include the Sunday nite with the Friday and Saturday nites... why not split the purchase Friday-Sunday and then Sun-Wed? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jig Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 OK, thats fine. What is the strategy for the Friday/Sat night for my budget?thanks (and sorry for not following the rules)
thereuare Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Since you only have one shot at this, you need to figure out your best deal should you be rejected with PRICELINE, and base your maximum bid on that figure.I want to get the best hotel on the strip for Fri/Sat/Sunday and my max budget is $120 a night.Do you have a back-up plan at ~$120/nite? (if so, where is it) As quoted above, since you only have one chance, you need to make sure that you're not falling too short as then there may be a big jump between your last failed PRICELINE bid and your back-up plan.I will add that there is also what appears to be Bill's Gamblin' Hall (previously Barbary Coast) for $143/nite on HOTWIRE. Given you're only looking for 2 nites (instead of 3) if you're willing to increase your budget to $143/nite, but while this property is only rated 3 stars, it has an EXCELLENT central strip location and gets great user reviews. Do note that this hotel does not have a pool, which may not be much of a concern for you in November. If the above is of interest it's believed to be the 3* Central Strip hotel with Casino, Restaurant, Internet, Golf, Tennis icons... your price may differ slightly from the $143 i'm quoting above. If not, let us know your maximum bid, minimum star rating, and zones you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy to follow on PRICELINE, but i would consider Bills Gamblin' Hall as well... loationwise it easy beats the area around the Stratosphere and i think would be a more enjoyable experience than the other 3* hotels previously discussed (Stratosphere, Tropicana, etc)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. jig Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 You're a star thereuare, thanks to your advice we booked bills thru HOTWIRE and mgm looks like you saved our hotel from being a disaster, thank you very much!! Great site
thereuare Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Congratulations on your success(es)!Glad you received the hotel you were hoping for and that we were able to help.I think you'll be happy with both of these properties... you can walk to almost all places on the strip from each of these properties and both provide a good base for exploring and casino hopping. Hands down I'd take either over the other properties you were considering.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and for using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Have a great time in Vegas.
