Mike M Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 I am going to try for a room November 8 - 9 in AC, and I'd really like it if I could get Harah's. I want to avoid the Sheraton, so could anyone give me some guidance? Is the Sheraton 3.5*, and how likely am I to get it? Thanks!
thereuare Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! With PRICELINE there is no way to target, or avoid a particular hotel, you're subject to any hotel in the zone at the minimum star rating (or better) that you select. While the Sheraton is currently believed to be a 3.5* and Harrah's a 3*, even if you select 3* you could be upgraded to a 3.5* property. When you're trying to target or avoid a particular property HOTWIRE can often be a better option as you can often determine the hotel which is being offered before your purchase (or at least determine what is isn't... for example if the hotel you're trying to avoid doesn't have a pool and the hot.t.wire offer shows a pool icon you can be fairly certain it's not the hotel you're trying to avoid). What is your budget for this stay? HOTWIRE is offering what is believed to be the Hotel Chelsea for $99/nite... would this work for your plans?Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. Mike M Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 I did see the $99 probable Hotel Chelsea listing on HOTWIRE, which would be fine, but the Harah's is definitly my first choice. I guess I will have to roll the dice and decide if I want to risk the Sheraton. I'll post again if it works out. Thanks!

Mike M Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 I didn't mean for it to end up this way, but I got the Residence Inn in Somers Point for $64. I didn't think there was a 3* there, so I kept adding areas to try and hone in on an Atlantic City Area hotel. Oh well, it got some good reviews and has breakfast, so we'll see how it is! It seems like there is no love for AC in the priceline forums here. No one seems to go that route for booking thier rooms.
thereuare Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Sorry to hear you received a hotel in a zone you didn't expect. The correct way to determine your re-bid zones is outlined in this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)In the future, always feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. Thanks for sharing your results with the board and helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
