boniam Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Great forum. I got a PRICELINE bid on this for $127+ tax whcih is $146 per night inclusive tax for Nov 23-25. My bid was actually for $110 and was counter offered for $127 which i accepted. However, i am regretting because i was getting Hilton Venice for $160 including breakfast at hilton through one of their promotion. Now i am looking for Nov 27-Nov30 in Rome and Nov 25-27 in florence. Any suggestion. I probable want to spend around $150 in Rome and around $100-$125 in florence. Also, i have a general question. I beleive most of the price line rate won't include breakfast. I think breakfast itself is atleast $20-$35 for two people in Italy. Do you guys take into account while comparing the price line bid with comparable hotels in Expedia etc. Currenltly i am finding that i can find decent hotel in rome for 4* in Expedia for $125-$150. So how much should i bid on PRICELINE. I tried rome 5* for upto $140 with no success. I am not willing to bid more that that because a 4* with breakfast seems a better choice for me.
thereuare Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Thanks for the additional post. You should consider the fact that breakfast won't be included in your PRICELINE bid if you enjoy/intend to eat breakfast at the hotel. Most hotel breakfasts are expensive (and frequently not that good) and unless it's included in my rate, i usually prefer to find breakfast locally outside of the hotel... it's almost always cheaper and it gives me an opportunity to eat at a local place with the locals, and immersing myself among, and interactiging with, the people of the area is one of the things i enjoy about traveling. For help with your two stays above please start NEW TOPICS for each... this will enable us to haveone thread dedicated to each stay as well as give us the topic title of each to reflect the win for each. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
