Need help---

Hotwire shows 4* hotel as follows--$59

Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet, Golf

3.5* $63

Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet

2.5* $66

Fitness, Restaurant, Internet, Tennis

Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to avoid the Crowne Plaza and the Holiday Inn-M4

Thanks,

Hal

The 4* amenities do not match any hotel that has been reported to the board exactly, but I would guess it could be the Sheraton Skyline or the Crowne Plaza, with my first choice being the Sheraton. It could also be another hotel that has yet to be reported to the board.

The 3* seems to match the Sheraton Heathrow. The Holiday Inn has not been reported to the board but it would likely be a 3* hotel.

No 2.5* has been reported to the board, but I did notice that HOTWIRE lists the tripadvisor traveler review rating for this hotel at 2.5/5 based on 40+ reviews. Referencing tripadvisor directly, the only hotel in the Heathrow zone that I see that matches this rating is the Comfort Hotel at 2.5/5 on 59 reviews.

These would be my best guesses.

The 3* and 4* hotels had no tripadvisor information available.

I agree with the above...

The 4* could be the Crowne Plaza but i think the Sheraton is a better guess. If you change your search to 2adults/1child the 4* offered has the amenities above but also shows a Pool, this is consistent with the Crowne Plaza. It's possible that this hotel is using two different set of amenity icons (one with a pool and one without) but the Sheraton Skyline has previously been reported wtih the amenities above plus the addition of a Shuttle icon. There is currently another thread on the board which discusses how there is no (hotel owned) free shuttle service from any of the hotels to the airport, so it's possible that this icon has been removed. If you don't want the Crowne Plaza this purchase woulud involve some risk, imo, so much so that you may want to search and see if the this property (withotu the pool icon) appears for both the first or last nite of your stay and then the other two... purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'... then if it's not the Crowne Plaza and is a hotel you're happy with, purchase the remaining nites.

Best guess on the 3.5* is the Sheraton Heathrow and the 2.5* has not yet been identified.

Have been using Hotwire Hotel list, but some questions....

06-09NOV, London Heathrow, 1 Room, 1 Adult

Have tried a few various permutations. 06-07NOV for 1 nt, 07-09NOV for 2 Nights.

The question is---I am hoping to get The Skyline which does not have a pool, but the Crowne Plaza which I do not want has a pool---both according to the Hotwire List on the Board.

When I change occupancy to 2 from 1, the rate goes up a little, but the Pool drops out in the descriptions.

Would that lead you to believe that the Skyline becomes the hotel for double occupancy OR will Hotwire drop some of the description codes if you do a new search?

Also, only one Heathrow 3* listed which is the Holiday Inn M4, but when I changed the dates (or may have been the occupancy), the 3* ADDS a Fitness Center. There is no 3* with a Fitness Center on the list for Heathrow. Do you think it's the same hotel??

Trying to avoid Crowne Plaza & Holiday Inn M4 because of no free busses.

Thanks,

Hal

After a tip in another message, I changed my original days from THU-SUN to FRI-SUN to try to get downtown.

I started hoping for the Hilton Islington, and I bid $83 which was rejected.

My backup hope was for the Copthorne Tara, but I meant to lower my bid to $75 as I have a few days to play with it. Unfortunately, I forgot, and got it for $83/nite. (Still a bargain for London!!).

With taxes $204 total for 2 nights, but sure beats staying cheap at Heathrow and commuting in, although I may have to do that for the first night.

Used PRICELINE link.

Congratulations on your win!

Glad to see that you decided against staying by Heathrow as the other posts in this thread suggest it just wouldn't be worth the time or hassle. Nice to see you get a great deal in London, and i certainly woudln't best yourself up over a potential (you can't even be certain that $75 would have been accepted) $8 overbid.

Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.

There are a few hotels that use multiple amenity combinations, but this is more the exception than the rule, so when you see a new HOTWIRE offering by changing some parameter of your search (dates, occupancy, etc), it could be the same hotel with a different set of amenities, but the odds greatly favor that it is a different hotel entirely.

Good win at $83 for the Tara, if you haven't stayed there before don't expect 4 star standard (check out Trip Advisor for reviews.) I like the super convenient location and friendly, efficient staff. I also stayed at Hilton Islington, I got it by only selecting The City, Finsbury and Islington zone and nothing else. Enjoy your trip.
