Is it worth a check into priceline??? I've never used either, and not sure what to do. Suggestions welcome.... for a girls shopping weekend. Thanks much!
AaronJB Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Welcome to the site :)Likely matches:1. Millennium Knickerbocker2. Sheraton (4* Smoke Free)3. Conrad (the 4.5*)If any of these are of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE (click the HOTWIRE)How many in your party? If more than 2, then I wouldn't recommend PRICELINE
Suburbanite05 Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 There are 2 big conventions starting that Sunday, 11/9 both with 75,000 attendees expected at each one. Here's the link for the Chicago convention schedule. If you are interested in PRICELINE, tell the board what your maximum bid would be and if you want to start with 4* and what area. For shopping, probably NMA?
chibound Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 Thank you! I had heard there were conventions in town that weekend and rooms were tight. I'm not sure about those three hotels. I might keep looking. I might try priceline... thanks for the tips! And there are only two in our party - due to the economy, not many people are shopping! I will definitely use your site to book. It's great!! And if anyone else has any other tips, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.
chibound Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 One more thing... I think our first bid on Priceline would be around $150 to $175 for 4* hotel. And we would be willing to go up to $199. Do you think those bids are too high to start? And do you know which hotels Priceline likes to book through?
AaronJB Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 With Priceline, you have to be aware that you could get any of the participating 4*'s in the area you bid on. There is no "usual" hotel win, you really do have to be willing to accept that you could get any of the 4*'s.Additionally, if you were to bid on Priceline, I really wouldn't recommend starting that high - based upon the rates, I'd start at $120. If this is a shopping trip, I'd focus on bidding for the River North/North Michigan Ave. area only.If you do decide to bid on PRICELINE, it would be greatly appreciated if you could start the booking process by clicking on the site's PRICELINE link (click the PRICELINE)
AaronJB Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 If you weren't accepted today at $120, you could try tomorrow for $135 and if that isn't accepted, Wednesday for $150.
chibound Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 Great advice! thanks...I found one more on hotwire today...3.5* North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast - $189Fitness, Restaurant, Bus Center, Hi-Speed InternetLowest Price Guaranteed4.0 out of 5.0 based on 120+ customer reviewsIdeas on this one???I'll probably try priceline tonight and post my results. Thanks, again, for your help!
chibound Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 And one more hotwire... this sounds interesting (with a spa)...4* - Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville - $124Fitness, Pool, restaurant, Bus Center, Hi-Speed Internet, Tennis, SpaLowest Price Guarantee, Best Value4.0 out of 5.0 Customer ReviewsOnce again, ideas??
slick_gd Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 The 3.5* in NMA - Water Tower matches the Ambassador East, and the 4* Mag Mile matches the Swissotel. Those would be my guesses.Help support this site by using these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
